Well the race is on...
The Ponies are coming around the 1st corner and they are in a dead heat. 2 yes 2 no and 2 maybe. Let’s make this a picnic we will have to top next year.
I know this is a busy month with the Labor Day Holiday, and the Walk from Obesity at the end of the month. It is certainly jammed packed. But it’s time for us to kick back and find some good friends great conversation, good music. Maybe even a dance or too. Who knows we may even get down to the beach and do some crabbing.
Rich has been spouting that his “CottageÂÂ" is only a 5 minute walk from the beach . I think we should actually time it and if he is wrong I think we have a good reason to bury him in the sand.
Just kidding Rich.
Here is our Menu so far
Rich: Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Sausage
Rich: Condiments
Gloria: Cauliflower Cold Salad.
Gloria: Chickpea Salad.
I really don't have any suggestions on what to bring because everyone is so different and at different stages. I suggest that you bring whatever you can tolerate best. If fish is easy for you we can cook it on the gril
Don't forget Lawn Chairs and if you have a favorite game bring that too.

Of course it is an incredible journey... I can prove it Last year I was unemployed but had the surgery and had a dream of opening my own insurance agency...Guess where I am writing this post from MY OFFICE.
I never knew I had the skills it would take to generate business...but I guess I always had them but they were buried so far below adipose tissue and were swallowed up with every Big Mac and Whopper I ate just to feel numb.
The funny thing about this transformation is the body reacts the same way at your highest and lowest weight ...what I am saying I am 16 months out and the pounds are creeping up about 6 pounds.... 6 Pounds feels to me like the 122 pounds I lost.... My head started thinking the same and so does my stress buttons.
But today I can recognize what is within my power and what is not. Today I have the hospital support group, I have Our Central Connecticut Cars support group, I have a pool membership. I can choose not to keep the crackers in my desk to much on. (Your head can justify everything but being a prepared person with this tool can out smart if if you want it ).
My only suggestion is to remember and journal how you feel waiting for life to start and remember that feeling... Because it was that feeling of change and anticipation that keeps me focused to see what new adventure is around the bend. I already was at the fat persons bend and it was not a happy place. Hell as a fat person there was no bend that you choose to go down only sitting and waiting and getting totally numb on food so the pain was bearable. As long as I was numb from not being able to move and sleep I did not have to live in the real world. Hell for me there was no real world only the outside looking in
Good Luck

Topic: NG Tube Reminder
I found this on the OH Leader Forum and wanted to share!

Post Date: 8/13/10 6:36 pm Everyone PLEASE tell your support group that no matter which WLS that they had NEVER let anyone in the ER put a Blind NG tube down their nose into their stomach pouch. Almost 3 weeks ago I went to the ER thinking that I had a appendix attack only to find out that I had a huge intestinal hernia. In the ER two nurses held me down and inserted a blind NG tube with me telling them that they could NOT do this or they could hurt my small stomach pouch. Thank GOD that didn't happen but still it could have. Also the ER doctors told them that since I was almost 5 yrs. post op RNY that my stomach was all STRETCHED OUT !!! I told them they were wrong. Needless to say.....a day later after being admitted to that hospital I left and went 40 miles away to the hospital where my bariatric surgeon does surgery and at 10 PM at night after doing surgery since 6:30 AM he took me into the OR to do surgery on me. Thank God everything turned out right and the other hospital did no damage to my body but still I am going to file a complaint with them. I wanted to share my story with you so that you could educate your support group about this. My surgeon said NO ONE who have ever had any WLS should have a blind NG tube placed in them without being under a XRay machine or a Flora scope. Maybe this could spare someone else all the stress that it caused me and maybe even their life. Have a blessed weekend. Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian |
