Topic: Fridge Fact
A refrigerator fact: Your kitchen refrigerator contains perhaps the most valuable real estate in your house. This is where you put photos of your loved ones, favorite recipes, important date reminders, and the like. It’s also a great place to put a mini training log or similar workout reminders. For example, you could clip a page from a magazine and put it on your refrigerator to remind you to do a certain strength-building exercise at least twice a week.   To remind you of your workouts for the week, simply write them on a small index card and attach the index card to your refrigerator with a magnet.  List the days of the week and the workouts you are supposed to do on those days. If something else will inspire or motivate you, include that in the plan. Some people like to “reward" themselves by putting a star next to every day when they do the planned workout.   When using your refrigerator in this way, it’s crucial to actually slow down and look at the card whenever you go to the fridge. It won’t be long before your workouts are lodged in your brain, and then it won’t be long until you do them.

RIchie, He is cute! Hi, Corey! ....and of course he will be welcome at some of our events! As we have have discussed, some of our meetings and gatherings will be for "members" only, but some will be open to guests, spouses and significant others. Our journey is lifelong and our individual and colllective support systems are paramount to our success.
I look forward to seeing you again and meeting Corey very soon.                   Dan

So I guess my favorite saying of
"Why do it today,
when you can put it off until tomorrow"

Is history for 2010.

I met someone on new years eve that I hope is going to become a very special part of my life. He is very interested in learning all about WLS and how to take care of me. Would it be ok to bring him to some of our meetings so he can ask questions, learn about us and meet everyone???
Here we are on new years eve. Aint he cute????

Happy New Year CCC!

Hello, I am Maryellen, Founder of LIPO (Long Island Post Ops) and am very happy to be part of this new group.

Support is the Key to Success!

Kudos to Dan R., Gloria and everybody else involved for creating this new group.  I have had the pleasure of meeting Dan R. as he has attended several of my meetings here on LI as well as the OH Rye Brook Event.  I'm quite confident that this group will be very successful as he is such an awesome inspiration to all that know him.

I look forward to meeting all other CCC members at some of your upcoming meetings/outings.
I spy a field trip coming up with some of my LIPOians! lol

Until then, I will participate accordingly online with this group and please feel free to join ours as well

Topic: "Getting Back on Track"

Yesterday I drove to Long Island to attend a SCALE (check 'em out) support meeting, very capably led by Heather and Tonimarie. BONUS: I also got to see some WLS friends that I had not seen in awhile.
One of the gems I took from the meeting was an OH publication, "On the Journey" titled Happy New Year Back On Track. A section titled Detour states "Think about your own weight loss journey. With the holidays, have you taken a few detours from being on track? If you've always attempted getting and being on track with lots of changes and it hasn't worked long term successfully, consider doing the same thing a different way. Consider for yourself, is it best to get back on track by making big changes or breaking down getting back on track into steps. For example, if you've gotten into grazing, drinking with meals and eating simple carbs and sugar, take one at a time rather than all of them. As an example, possibly for January, stop drinking with your meals. For February, set your goal for the month to avoid sugar and simple carbs, then for March take on another step in what you consider to be "on track" for you. You can reach a single goal easier in one month than multiple goals to make a sudden, abrupt turn in your life."
It goes on to explain "It takes 21 days (3 weeks) to form new habits. By committing to a single back on track goal on a monthly basis, you'll have created a new habit in the three weeks with an additional week to enjoy your success. Each monthly success creates a momentum of success and it becomes easier to stay on track."
Most Important... Lean on your support system! Call on your family and friends, post your concerns and successes on CCCares.
Remember Weight Loss Surgery is an event, losing the weight and maintaining your health is the Journey.                             Dan
