There are three triggers - triggers to pig out, triggers to graze, triggers to be compliant.  What are your triggers?

Maureen - I have the book Beck's Diet Solution.  There is also a workbook which I did not buy as they steps to follow and work through are in the book so I can't say what having the workbook too adds to success.  I got the book on amazon.com

Hi everyone! Thanks for the invite to join and I'm happy to be here. After losing 220 lbs. in 2004 (see photos at my profile page), I admit to being pretty scared about a 22 lb. weight gain this past year and not feeling like I have the answers to tools to rein this in. How do I learn more about the Becks Diet Solution? Thanks! Maureen

The discussion topics for this group don't seem to come up when I click on "discussion"  What am I doing wrong?

I had my lap band surgery over 4 years ago, reached my goal weight a year later, regained 30-35 pounds 2 years later, now have that off and have lowered my goal weight by 5 pounds and am maintaining for the first time in my life.

As a psychologist I am well aware that ours is not a physical problem, but a mental/emotional one and if we do not deal with the issues that triggered us to eat before surgery we are doomed to return to our old ways of eating.

I lead two support groups - one a general bariatric support group which meets once a month (in fact, this evening is our January meeting) and the other which is a maintenance/near goal weight group which meets once a week at noon time. (Tuesday are our meeting days)  I use the Beck Diet Solution as the basis for both groups.

I am so glad to see a BDS group here and I hope it is a caring, supportive, understanding, accepting group.  I am turned off by so much of the negativity which seems to permiate some groups.

This is the third time in my life I have lost 100 pounds + and the reason is I had no idea how to maintain.  I guess the biggest revalation I've had is that it takes as much work (maybe even more) and time to maintain as it did to lose.  I still have to plan my food at least a day ahead, write down my plan, and follow my plan.  NO VOTING.  Just stop eating when I've had all my calories whether I think I've had enough to eat or not.  We know nothing about "tummy hungry" (or at least very few of us have even been tummy hungry) but we know a whole lot about "head" hungry.

So here's to a fine group

Hi there!  I am also a little over 6 months out and 94lbs down.   This is so wild that this group has started up because I just ordered the book and workbook on Amazon.  I'm still waiting for its arrival but I can't wait.

At my support group last week, my doctor showed up for a little Q&A with the group.  He recommended this book and even said he was talking with the author to get her to come speak to us.  I'm so excited!

I have major issues with food.  We are definitely not friends, but I keep turning to it.  Why? I don't know.  I don't have a reason why...I just do.  I want to learn to cohabitate with food.  This dysfunctional relationship has to go!

Don't know why I didn't see this post when I came to the forum. It looks like we all had our surgery about the same time. I just had my six-month visit today and have lost 92 pounds. The scale hasn't moved in almost two weeks, but I'm not letting it get me down. I'm hoping to lose another 20 pounds so that when I bounce up, I'll hopefully be at my ideal weight of 142.

I posted my intro as a separate topic, but will post it again here:

I just started listening to this audiobook today and had planned to come home and ask on OH if anyone was following the system. Imagine my delight to find this group! I haven't really listened to enough of it yet to have a good grip on what the system is like, but I do know that I've got to get a grip NOW on my cravings. I'm just six months out, so I haven't had to deal with any gains yet, but I am having a hard time resisting eating too much granola and too many wasabi-dusted almonds. I really need a system, and having a support group to go along with it will be fabulous! I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you!
