Topic: RE: Three Triggers
EVERY little bit of compliance is of monumental importance. Why? Because you can't take the next stip until you've taken the first step, the second step, the third step, etc etc etc.
Remember the saying (I think it's a native Americian saying but I'm not sure) A journey of a tousand miles begins with the first step. So very true. Yoi deserve a fine reward for taking the first step - no matter how many miles you still have to go.

Great point. I am definitely going to try to do that. Sometimes when I have so far to go I feel like this little bit of compliance aint worth much. Rewarding positive behavior with non food rewards...will hato work towards that.

Topic: RE: Jump in at any time!! All are welcome
Welcome..I feel you. I have witnessed some of the responses on some boards, and wow maybe their food issues werent as deeply rooted as they are for me. I have a close friend who has the rny 4 years ago, and once she had wls, she really didn't struggle with food issues after that and has maintained for 4 years with relative ease. Im just not wired that way. Just come here every day and share your experiences one day at a time. We are all in the same boat.

Happy, I did the opposite LOL. Someone recommended just the workbook if you already know you have the issues. The workbook just focuses on the steps I guess. Seems pretty self explanatory to me. I may have to go back and get the book though.

I describe my new stomach as a stomach of iron!! Our digestive systems must have been created on the same day! I really had hoped to be one those people I know who "just can't eat when they are stressed" or "Just can't eat one more bite". Oh well.....same tummy, just smaller.

Thank you for doing this and being so honest about your struggles. I am only 3 months out and last night I broke down and decided I could eat pretty much the same as pre surgery, and I really had very little restriction with a few exceptions . Like I can't tolerate water. I had a full blown pity party, but the emotions and feelings were those familiar ones of "this is for everyone else, but not you" Stinkin' Thinkin' but hard to fight years of feeling this way. So many people on the other forums just don't get the emotional part of it or the fact that some people just have different restriction. The only time I was honest on the other board I was immediately attacked by a couple of people who for the life of me have so much self discipline I can't figure why they had to have surgery!! It reinforces the feelings of failure.
ANYWAY, I bought the Beck workbook early post op (I sensed I wasn't emotionally where I needed to be). I pray I can follow through and join you on this journey. Free Spirit, you sound like you really get it. Thanks again.
