You're posts are great, just wanted you to know how thankful I am.  I can always come on here to see what I'm suppose to be doing for myself.

Topic: RE: Day 5

I was thinking today about Day 5 Eating Slow and Mindfully… Yesterday at supper my daughter was in a foul mood at supper time and she just kept it up till I finally told her to just shut up and eat. Well the mood was set for just the opposite of day 5’s challenge. I found myself , MINDLESSLY shovelling my food in so I could get away from the table. If I was smart I would have just put my plate in the fridge till her and my dh had finished then continued with my meal, eating slow and mindfully enjoying every bite.

This deserves a Response Card!

I will continue to desperate proff my home and look out for sneaky traps. Last week I bought 100 cal cookies for my son's lunch...never again (guess who ate most of the packs) Now if I was honest with myself, I would have said "what is the diff between buying the 100 cal pak v/s the real thing? For me ..not a bit of difference *I* bought them under the guise of portion control ( and remember they werent even for me)..and then ate off my plan that entire week because of those cookies!

Thanks for sharing. I have experienced that as well. Last month it was granola bars...any other time granola would not have been on my mind, but I was tearing through them like they were chocolate (and looking at the calories they may as well be)

Desperate...Ive felt that. Thanks for being brave enough to say it.  Great idea about keeping cookies in the truck..I really have NO excuse for my environment because I am no longer married and my son is only 8, so all the responsibility falls on me. I will continue to be mindful.

Beverley - I find I need to purchase items in individual servings (I've found a lot of the things that aren't available in individual serving packages in local stores can be purchased on line with several servings to a box) as I don't do well with big bags that I have to divided into individual servings myself.  I'm too likely to snarf down three or four servings - or the whole bag.  It does cost a little more - but not nearly as important as staying on track.

We all get desperate - just have to remember Craving DOES NOT = having to eat.  Never known anyone to drop over dead because they did not give in to a craving, but people who do give in can drop over dead from morbid obesity.  We just have to "desperate proof" our homes, offices, and cars.

YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!   YES YOU CAN!!!!!   Believe in yourself.

Right now I don't have any junk in my house like  candy, cookies, cake or chips. Although I am addicted to junk so when I am desperately craving I will eat anything.

Last week I wanted something... the only thing I could find was a bag of marshmallows that I had bought for some Christmas baking. I don't really enjoy these things unless they are roast over a fire but I did find myself opening the bag and within 2 days they were gone. An Open Bag, is an Empty Bag.  I want to say here that it was a small bag...does that really matter NO what matters is I ate them all! It was at night and I was  alone...

Man I HATE that I use the work *desperate*  to describe the fact that I wanted something sweet.

A few months back I found that when I was packing cookies in my DH lunch, I would eat 2-3, I told him if he needed or wanted cookies for his lunch he could buy them himself and keep them in his truck, or anywhere that is out of my grasp.....he has done so.

The way I plan on preparing  and maintaining my environment, is to shop for more bulk items... that way I can purchase 1/4 cup of something and not have the an open bag of anything hanging around to be tempted by.

Since I've long ago de-tempted my environment will simply continue to be mindful when I shop for food and respect myself and my needs.   How can we possibly expect ofhers to respect us if we do not respect ourselves?

Today we must prepare our environment for dieting. Get rid of junk food at home and work. Develop an attitude of entittlement. You must decide for your family to help by getting rid of or putting tempting items out of sight. What are you going to do today to prepare your environment?

Just remember no one's rejection can bother you without your permission.

Planing a day ahead (preferably 2 or 3 days) writing down my plan and following my plan no matter what is essential for me!
