Bob, I’m not sure what you mean by my husband can help me face my food demons. Please go it to more detail.

Melva, I wish I could recognise those sabotaging thoughts and discard them as easily as I do with my pity parties. Practice makes perfect I guess LOL

You might have to slow down a bit and look at your personal reasons for eating.  The first thing I learned with Becks is that I did not automatically have to eat addicting food.  Once I realized that I actually looked at food, recognized it, and made a decision to eat it, what seemed to be automatic became a manageable time to make the choice of whether to eat or not.  I know that making the proper choice takes time.

Since you are happily married, talk to your husband about this process.  Let him know that he can help you face your eating demons.  Don't try to foist the burden onto him.  Just let him know that you trust him and may need his help from time to time.  Your behavior whether or not you follow a diet does affect the other people in your home.  In time, you will feel better and they will feel better if you are able to follow the lifetime diet as well as you can.  Once you no longer are concerned with problem foods, you will enjoy a sense of freedom.  You can use that mental energy on other things as well as allowing yourself to relax.

Pity parties are good they make you stop and think and as you did you come back to reality. The reality of why you are doing this, after  few pity parties and the foundation you have set up for yourself will keep you going even when you don't want to.

You will reach your goal because you want to we are there to support you. This group is fantastic and quick response from any of us.

Good job you hung in there and for now your party is over

Thanks I will copy have already torn out but I can keep the originals put up and make some new ones so I can carry with me a memo book sounds great, I can see where the originals could get lost easily.

I think this is a great idea.   I am having a hard time keeping up with mine.  I think I will do that this week, and keep it with my reasons to lose weight.

Thanks,
April

Contrary to Dr Beck's suggestion that you tear the Response Cards out of the workbook, I suggest that you copy them onto a 3"X5" card or wherever you keep them.  I say this because if you lose them, it's very hard to find them.  Yes, the first few are clearly shown in the daily instructions, but as you get further into the program it sometimes becomes difficult to find them.  I wrote most of my responses in a memo book that I carry me and can refer to quickly.  But, I've lost most of the original response cards.

I am glad to see that you may stay here for a few days, because I know I need to stay here.   The further we get in these exercises, the more emotions and feelings get stirred up in me.

When I look at the weight chart I have on here, I want to give up…. I can gain weight so fast. I really don’t understand my body, my metabolisim.
I am so frustrated that I think what the h*** I’m 53 yrs old and I don’t need to impress anyone, I’m happily married and have a wonderful family. Right now I am healthier than I have been in a long time. Why do I put myself though this BS every day.?

After a few minutes of this pity party I remind myself I want to do this for me and me alone I want to look good for me…I want to be healthy for me. I guess this book is just digging up some dirt and I just want to leave it under the carpet where it belongs, I don‘t want to deal with it.

If I want to reach my goal I need to rip up that carpet and do some deep cleaning. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Okay party is over …I hope.
