Melva,

I think, since you are so far out, there are several things that could make your goal a reality.  believe me, at 2.5 years out, I have a bounceback of about 12 lbs that I want to lose, but am finding it very difficult.  My nutirionist advised me to "shake things up" a bit; she is also a fan of The Beck Diet Solution, so it's on my nightstand ready to go.

I also have to work at working out regularly again.  At my :heyday" (who made that word up?) I was exercising 5 times a week - now I'm lucky if I make it 3 times a week.  As with many things, I have a ready arsenal of excuses, but when I was working out 5 days a week, I didn't ALLOW excuses; I need to get that word out of my vocabulary.

You seem to be doing really well, losing 11#s!  As you probably know, the less you have to lose, the harder it is (your body fights for it in a way) so keep on with your plan, but, as I see, we all need to commit to it 24/7 to make it work.

Melva, 5 pounds a month is a great goal. They say the slower you lose the better. If you are happy loosing 5 a month then that is what you should do. It is better to set goals that you know you can accomplish rather then making goals that are hard to hit , not making them and getting frustrated and giving up.

I do not use the Health Tracker but it is probably something I should look into. I hope someone else can answer your questions.

Hold firm to what you have learned with BDS. Let him deal with his feelings you have enough of your own you are dealing with. I’m sorry that your husband…I’m holding my tongue at this point LOL.

VAIN… no, you have earned ever glance, and even a few cat calls. I’m 53 and I sure would appreciate a few cat calls or whistles. Your determination makes me smile….keep living life, you deserve it!!

1st time 01/31/2010 - 03/14/2010 lost 13 lbs

Beverly, you seem to be getting how to work in this support group.  Yes, we all work at our own pace, but people who are further along with working their Days can tell others how they worked earlier days.  I mean that, since you are working on something like Day 24, you are uniquely qualified to help someone else work who is working any Day prior to that.  Just remember that there is really no right or wrong way to work individual Days.  And, based on how people completed their intro chapters' questionaires, they should be aware of what they want from the program.  Some people may just want to lose weight.  Others may want to gain confidence.  Benefits of weight loss are personal.  I don't look forward to buying new clothes and that may be a negative to weight loss.  However, most people--men and women --look forward to being able to fit in smaller sizes.

Thanks for your active participation.

Good Morning

Just wanted to get some input, dont want to set myself up for setting unrealistic goals.
I am 4 years out RNY, lost 185#'s have never gotten to my goal my lowest weight was 206 and then I was up to 232. I am down 11#'s since starting group.  Well I am gonna make 2010 my year for all my goals.

Question Does 5 #'s per month seem realistic?

The groups I am in have me so motivated on facts that I already know I am just so ready to make this happen, yesterday.

Please tell me what you think and I welcome any tips...

Teresa

Welcome to BDS, You sound like the rest of us. WOW over 200# congratulations, I am sure you look fantastic and feel even better. We would love to hear some of your stories and maintaining for a 1 1/2 years is phenomenal.

You will find us here supportive non judgmental and genuinely care in whatever success you desire. I have never made it to my goal weight  but I will in 2010..lol

what are your goals
do you have the BDS Book and possibly the workbook
what supplements do you take
Protein a must for us- I will share if you don't have 1 I hate it to but I have no choice so I take 3 to 4 drinks per day

We all want and do eat out of sheer habit. I am most of the time not hungry either, but 50 years of eating what when and the amount I wanted is what has gotten me in to this obesity dilemma. We all have issues, You are taking a step to maintain and manage what you had surgery for in the first place.

We had the surgery and the weight immediately came off, now the real work begins, look at it as the way of life...

Yes ma'am 100% agreed, but my a-hole husband told me that, My blood boiled immediately I wanted to start cutting up real bad , but you know because of BDS I was able to cope with his actions by thinking it out, my advantages kept my mind together, I believe he is starting to get insecure and stupidly jealous. Insecure in that I made a decision for me instead of the family, that decision has me looking and feeling better. I don't think he is used to that ..LOL.. at 55 I still turn some heads you know that's just some of the perks of losing the weight..HONEY I LOOK GOOD..LOL. ( sorry if I sound Vain)

I Like our choice, our choice to Live Life to the fullest getting healthy and strong, his actions are put on my advantage list, even drives me that much more to get to goal weight all I can say to the HATERS is get over it Here I come...........
