Thanks Bev I will do the fluids and keep our 30 min rule, I am also practicing the BDS mind thinkers, they do work. Last night when I guess you can say I some idle time, I was starving didn't know what I wanted to eat but I wanted something, I drink water broke down ate an Adkins bar and finally I got busy and I forgot about being hungry. So that showed me I wasn't hungry, just something I gotta work on daily..

A desire to eat  -  there are sometimes that I have just eaten and I am full but not satisfied.

When this happens most times it is because I am thirsty. I  always try to stick to the pouch rule of not eating 30 minutes before or after my meal.

When this happens I will chew gum and since BDS I say

"No Choice,   You don't want to eat more, you are thirsty in 30 minutes you will be fine after you have a drink. I know I can wait that long"

Craving - I find that there are getting less and less.   Since BDS here's what i say  " Just because I want it...... doesn't mean I should have it! I can't have it both ways, eat what I want or loss the weight I want"  My Choice, No Choice.

Laura again - I should also post that I have gained back 35 pounds. I would like to lose that amount again and get the sugar/carb monster off my back.

Hello - My name is Laura . I had RouenY surgery in October 2003. Went from 240 to 150 within my honeymoon period.  Have  come to find that the surgery is done on our stomachs, not our brain. Had some major stresses in my life, other surgeries, job elimination 2 times in 3 years. I have reverted to old coping mechanisms dealing with stress/emotions - mainly food, more specifically sugar and carbs. Started to test the waters with unskillful food choices, and found that they went down good, and I am able to eat alot of them. I have stayed within the parameters of my bariatric program, no drinking with food, take all of my vitamins/suppliments, and get blood work done on a regular basis, but am struggling with portion size and food choices, as well as not exercising. It's like I know what I need to do, but am unable to do it. I had heard about the Beck Diet Solution and purchased the book. Maybe it's time to read it. I am glad I found this group so I can network and connect with others going through many of the same things.

Topic: RE: Day 39
I have been back to the gym now for about 2 months. I hadn't been because I had gained some weight and I was embarrassed to go because of that.

I lost a few pounds and said to myself "you are paying just as much for your membership as someone who is thin, you get your butt in grearand get to the gym".  Now I go 4-5 days a week first thing in the morning  and I spend 1 hour there.

When I stop going I know that as soon as I get back to it, I will ask myself why I waited so long to get back at it.

Right now I am just doing the treadmill, elliptical, Arc and bike.  I will probably start doing weights in a week or two.  Right now what I am focusing on, is getting the pounds off and the area that needs the most work is my legs, so this is why I am sticking to the machines for now.

What is everyone else doing for exercise?

On the days I can't go to gym I do the walk aerobic tapes by Leslie Sansone. They are very good and right at home you walk 2 to 4 miles. I get up every morning walk the long way around the yard I live on 3 acres. When I go to work I park at the far end of the parking lot.

True Hunger = you've fasted for several hours and your stomach is empty.

A Desire to Eat = Not being particularly hungry but eating because there is food around. For instance, at Thanksgiving you ate a big meal yet you still want to have seconds or dessert.

Craving = A physiological and emotionally intense urge to eat. You may feel tension and an unpleasant yearning sensation in your mouth, throat, or body.

If it has been between 20 minutes and 3 hours since you've eaten a reasonable-sized meal, any urge to eat is probably due to a desire to eat, not to hunger.

This info. comes from BDS
