Becks Diet Solution
End Overeating
The Beck Diet Solution alerts us to two types of overeating: * You eat any food in a greater quantity than you had planned; or * You feel full partway through your meal but continue to fini**** anyway, leading to a feeling of overfullness.
Typical situations where you may overeat are at a restaurant, when you are served large portions, or if you're eating family style and can easily take seconds. (I actually don't serve foods family-style for this reason.)
To practice, select a meal and (1) choose a food that's on your plan, but give yourself a larger portion than you would normally allow; and (2) put something on your plate that you're not supposed to eat. At the beginning of the meal, you can push the extra portions to the side of your plate and eat only the remaining food.
If you're tempted to eat the extra food, use anti-craving techniques (assess your level of discomfort, tell yourself NO CHOICE, etc) and respond to any sabotaging thoughts.
When you've finished eating just the food you're supposed to, clear your plate. Throw out the excess or save it for another meal.
To lose weight, you must stop eating when you've eaten the amount of food on your plan. Remember the excess food will go to waste - in your body or in the garbage.

I am doing very good so far. If I overeat I am eating the good stuff. I sat in on telephone support group today that was very helpful indeed. I love them. 1st Monday and 3rd Thursday of each month. I have lost 8 pounds this month so far. That was my goal for the month of March, so I guess I am going to exceed that. Goal is 1 to 2 pounds each week. But as large as I still am, if I follow WLS diet structure I should do more than that but I do not want to set unreasonable goals for myself. How is it going with you?
Molly, 8 pounds is just awesome and there’s still more than 2 weeks left in March so you will definitely exceed that goal. Keep up the good work!!

If I am at a restaurant and I'm finished eating, I give the remainder of the food to hubby. If he doesn't want it and I don't get a take out container right away, even if I have pushed the plate away I will still pick it. So now, I quite often ask for a take out at the beginning of my meal.
It is rare that I have all the food spread on the table, even if we have a family event it is self serve from the kitchen counter.
