Becks Diet Solution
Intro (ETA - just saw there's already an intro thread - sorry!!)
I just joined your group and thought I'd give a quick intro. I'm 32 years old, married for the first time on January 30, moved to Texas from Tennessee three days after that. I have been under a lot of stress and have been eating badly (ok, very badly), but the stress is no excuse.
I bought the book by Beck and have been reading random chapters that have caught my eye, but haven't been following through with anything suggested....and I want to start doing that. So, here I am.
Thank you for starting the group, and i look forward to getting to know all of you -
Lori (-:
Hi Lori, welcome, glad you joined us. We are a small group working at different stages in the BDS book. We are here to support one another, to hold each others hand through this journey.
Feel free to post often, let us know what day you are working on and what you are experiencing.
I find the more I share the more accountable I feel. I am currently on day 24 and have decided to just hang out on this day for a few days . I have also been going back to previous days and recapping, trying to focus on days that need more attention.
Congratulations on the recent wedding!

Welcome to the group, my name is Melva. Welcome to the issues we all have. Lori you will find we are all supportive here we all have issues we work on daily. Everyone I have talk to here has their ideas on the way we need to respond to eating and ideas on how to make it work for you.
I had never hear of Bec****il came to this group Free started, it is fantastic.
Start in the beginning and go day by day it works it makes you think why when and where. I am not gonna tell you it's easy but its worth it.
I am only on my 2nd day of the actual diet, the prep which is the 1st 14 days, I lost 10#'s. I am happy, it only makes common sense, before you eat you think it out.
As Free would tell any of us jump in we are all here to help.

You have probably been dealing with an eating and weight problem for a long time. Dr Beck's Days -actually lessons or strategies--often build on the prior day. You just can't start in the middle of the program.
You will get the help you need in this group. I am going much slower--a Day or lesson--per calendar week in the Hunger and Food Troubles Forum. So far, I've been the only person posting there and others have been reading it. I'll gladly refer people to this group. I just need to review Beck's slowly. I did go through the program last year and lost 50 lbs because of it with very little exercise. Bob
I agree that skipping from day 1 straight to day 4 would not be wise. And I think reading through the whole book before actually starting, might scare the dickens out of me and then I would probably not start day one at all, but thats just me.
This is a process that may require some to stay on an exercise for an additional day or 2 or 3, and may even need to go back to certain days to recap what you learned, even Beck has stated this in the book.
I really don’t see any point in just moving on if your not benefiting from it. I personally feel if I was to skip a step just because……. I would be cheating myself, so there for I try everything she suggests and will keep coming back to it till I get that step right.
Once I have done the full 6 weeks then I will just focus on the days that I still have issues with. I love this program and consider myself to be a lifer.
