Three Triggers
Trudy, go back to what your triggers (can also be called motivators) were to have the surgery and to be compliant after surgery. Write them down, read them often, update them for the here-and-now. That's how you discover your triggers to be compliant. I wish you well - you can do it - you did it in the past so there's no doubt you can do it in the present. I believe in you!
Trudy - Hey there's no such thing as a poor motivator. My guess is that they reason pretty clothes is a motivators is because of the way you feel when you can buy/wear/look good in pretty clothes. Now there's an internal motivator if I ever read one.
Don't be harsh with yourself. Be kind, gentle, and firm. Treat yourself as you would treat your best friend if she/he were to find themselves in the same situation you're in.
You can do this!!!!!! and BOTT is an excellent help too - at least I found it to be terribly significant in me getting back/staying on track.
