Topic: Horrible eating recently...
I am new to this group and so glad to have found it!!

This is how horrible my eating has been recently...I am under a lot of money stress right now so I guess that is why. Thursday- came home from my mom's house and ate 2 pieces of sugar free chocolate pie that I made- vomited from this. Friday- was at work and stressed. Was actually looking in my purse for change to purchase something from the vending machine when my supervisor came around with a big box of fancy cupcakes. So, I took one- a red velvet cupcake. It was awesome, but I felt like crap for about an hour afterwards. Yesterday- nothing specifically bad other than some peanut butter crackers. Today at work there has been a large bowl of candy out all day and I have ate 7 things from it- 3 of which were peanut butter snickers (fun size). Also, instead of having the healthy food I brought to eat today I ate out with some people instead. Granted, what I got out wasn't terrible (a light club wrap with an organic whole wheat wrap), but it wasn't as healthy as what i brought for sure.

It seems I have started a bad pattern here the last few days and need HELP to get out of it. Also, when I eat the wrong things my protein intake suffers too.

I exercise 3-5 times a week currently and have lost 130 lbs so far (since 12/30/10).

I had to look down in the page to find the Florida events.

Here's the link, hope it works:

Another suggestion to find a support group. If you go to the top of the Obesity Help website and look under the forum's tab. You will see a pull down menu for Go Local. Select your state. Being from California, I'm not so familar with the distances in Florida, but there were several support group meetings listed there.  Might be another lead to find you a more regular support system with face-to-face people, if that is your preference.

I did the google search and found a listing in the Citrus County chronicle from Sept 2010. It said that CMHS Adminin Building for a Bariatric Support Group meets 6:30PM every 3 months in the Cypress Room call Claudia Blotz at 697-0051 or Bette Clark at 860-0383.

Not sure if it's still meeting, but you might get a newer lead from one of them.

First off, welcome and glad you are here.

You may want to do a google search for gastic bypass surgery offices in your new town or see what is available through your current health care provider. I go to a support group meeting that is associated with another insurance company since I had my surgery over 50 miles away from home and they ask for a $5 donation per visit. I have made several friends through this support group that I do things with outside of group...like exercise.

About the weight regain,  it's a personal struggle for me too. Where do you feel your pitfalls are? Have you found a new place to exercise? Are you snacking on slider foods? Getting your water in? I have started to record my food again today and low and behold I am eating what I should eat in calories by the time  I was done with lunch. No wonder the weight is sticking to me. Start by analysizing where you are struggling so you know where to start. If there is more than one area start with one, master that and move to the next.

You are right, of course. It doesn't help that I had an appointment with the surgeon yesterday and he said I had to get used to it because that is what I would be eating like from now on.  I don't mind the food, it's the quantity - I am so hungry.

Just keep going.  Start over as many times as you need.  Forgive yourself and move on.  Just keep going.  Hang in there!

I don't even know if I'll need this group's help when I finally get my WLS but if this pre-op diet is any indicator, I'm done for.  I can't stay on it. It is so strict. I'm hungry all the time.
4 protein shakes/day
3oz chicken, fish or pork loin/day
2 cups veggies/day
That's it! I do fine for a few days and then bam I go nuts and eat the house down to the foundations. So, I'm thinking I'm going to need help after surgery, too.

Topic: RE: Hi everyone, one month post op VSG and nervous
For fluids, here's what works for me....I have a refillable bottle with a lid that seals that I fill up as I'm doing my night time routine and I can usually get about 10 -15 oz or so in between bath, brush, books, tucking kids in and getting myself to bed. I leave my bottle on the nightstand (here's where I need the lid that seals, because I tend to slap the snooze 2 or 3 time and boy does it make a mess when it's just a glass of water). So when I wake up and do the morning routine, I can get another 10-15 oz in. Really it's 20-30 oz of water without trying for me. I fill it up again and with the hour commute I can get in another 10 or so...Then I fill it up again on my way home from work...that's onother 10 oz. Almost all my water. It works for me, maybe it will work for you too. I find that when I

For me carbs are a demon that I fight daily. I'm 13 months out and have lost 110 so far, but I want to loose another 40-50. I know that when I am able to avoid processed food, I do significantly better. You might consider not choosing processed foods like crackers...for me it's flour, corn and cornmeal that are especially bad.

What kind of exercise are you doing? You may want to change that up a little...5 minutes more or increase your intesity.

Let us know how you are doing.
