Topic: Need to be here

Well in short I'm at two year mark had a mental breakdown was hospitalized for fourteen days turned fourty and was off work (which is very physically demanding)all this happened and bam two weeks out of hospital had a 8 lb gain then next week 2lb gain then now I'm 16lbs over personal goal have been attempting to lose and can't get scale to move it is now winter my bike riding done but did join a gym and as far as carbs go i didn't let daily ones enter at all so I'm here and asking for encouragement. I am currently keeping a journal on my fit pal and determining to stay at no more then 1200 cal I don't have a problem with protein yesterday tracked over 100  water is low gonna shoot to work on that and no less then 25 min cardio or other work out until machine says 400cal burned. I have been stabbing at this thing for almost two months yesterday decided to give myself another 16 weeks to lose. Is this plan gonna work because I really need to see something good happen. I feel if it doesn't and I'm compliant at least 90 percent of the time I'm gonna slip over the edge. I'm determined to over come this. But have to say am skeptical. I weigh 166 am 5'5 my goal weight is 150 now after this may be if I can get scale to move again will change to 140 not sure this entire journey I never tracked cal only ate protein first so maybe would be a idea.

Lynn don't beat yourself up about not being able to stay on the diet pre-surgury.  your surgeon is trying to change your mind and your stomach is not inline with your mind right now.  Once your stomach is smaller you will be full trust me.  You may even find you can't eat all that at one meal.  The toughest part of this surgury is getting your mind to line up with your stomach.  When I first got it done my mind wanted to eat 3 pieces of pizza but my body could only handle one.  I remember chewing up the other 3 pieces and spitting it out just to get the satification of feeling like I had eatten enough.

I time your mind will adjust though.  Good for you for trying pre surgury though.  I ate like a cow all the way up to the surgury day and gain 15lbs.

prayers to you on surgury day!

Topic: 3 years out and 5DPT??

Hey all!

First I want to say how truly happy that i stumbled on this group. I turned BACK to OH.com because it was truly what got me threw every part of WLS from choosing the right surgery to post-op problems.

So here i am 3 years out. I'm back to about 160lbs down originally from 250/260lb-ish.  Last summer I had gotten down to a measly 123lbs, since then my fiance and I broke up, I moved 1000 miles and am finally making it again on my own, working a hardcore 10-12hr a day job sitting on my bum, then going out with friends, eating poorly, drinking beer (SHAME SHAME!)  !!! I'm happy overall but my weight gain...is NO BUENO!!

So i ask, I want to try the 5DPT, i figure i can do anything for 5 days during a work week.  I've "heard" it can reap havoc on your metabolism though, it would seem to me that shrinking the pouch would put things back on track.

Also, i have a gym membership and i find it so hard to get my butt to the gym before or after work. How many days a week are you guys working out and what type of exercises are you doing?

I truly feel like i've fallen so far off track...i've come to far to just give it all up.

Thank you in advance for any advice!! Together with support, I know we can all RE-ACHIEVE our weight loss goals!!

Habit is habit and not to be flung out of the window by any man, but coaxed downstairs a step at a time.

I am glad I am not the only one who needs to get back to basics. I could kick myself for allowing myself to gain. I know it has to stop. Thanks for being here.

I am in the same boat as you...a little over three years out and I have gained 10 pounds from my lowest weight. My weight loss started slowing down about a year ago, and my eating habits turned to crap! I did read something a few weeks ago that has been helping me overcome some cravings...journaling. I carry a small notebook with me at all times and when I am at work or home and I want to eat something outside of my daily plan, I jot it down with the time and any additional comments. This a) distracts me momentarily, and b) reinforces that I don't need whatever the item is!
