Lap Band Buddies
6/2/10 Surgery in Overland Park Kansas
Hi Karen,
Thanks for starting the group! Like you, I would love to have a local accountability partner, but I will take what I can get. It is so hard staying motivated to exercise. The excuses come so easily -- my fav -- I don't have time. ::::sigh:::::
But I aim to change that. I just registered for a ten week Zumba Class at a local university. So, I'm hoping that will motivate me to get moving and keep moving.

I'm with you on the diet. It seems like the wheels came off once I learned what I could get away with. It's still not as bad as pre-surgery (not even close) but it's frustrating to lose the discipline.
I set some goals for the exercise which seemed to help. I also exercise with other people. I joined a running group (of similar middle aged non-runners) and we spend most of the long runs just chatting about random stuff. I love group exercise at the gym. I'm still intimidated at the gym and wouldn't know what to do if I just walked in and faced all of the equipment. I like someone else providing the structure. When I run/walk/cycle alone, I listen to audiobooks. I try to reserve the audiobooks only for workouts so it's kind of a reward. Whatever works, right?
