Just following up with a link that might explain my prior post better than I did.  ;-)

My doc suggested running in a pool 4-5 feet deep (depending on your height) when my knees became too inflamed to even walk.  Thankfully, I found the source of my issues, got relief and am back to jogging.  Just curious, have you cut out all grains from your diet?  Dr. William Davis, the author of Wheat Belly, has found a link between wheat consumption and fibromyalgia, MS, lupus and other auto-immune disorders to consumption and sensitivity to wheat.  I wasn't gluten sensitive until after my WLS.   After 7 years of taking Protonix for Gerd, I developed a gluten sensitivity that caused severe joint inflammation to the point I could not get off the couch without assistance.  That was at age 45.  It might be worth a try to just go on a no wheat/gluten free diet for a few weeks and see if that improves your symptoms.  If you google gluten and fibromyalgia, you will find a ton of resources that may help you.  As for rice and corn, they contain similar proteins that cause inflammation in the body, so a grain free diet can really make a difference.  Good luck!!  Hope you get some relief soon.

Topic: Help with NPO and hypoglycemia

I had an X-ray on Friday that showed I had an ileus.  My doctor never called me.  I didn't know this until I read the radiologist report today.  So I called my GI doctor ( the original order was from my primary care doctor.). He confirmed that I had an ileus.  He knows that I am a nursing student and am trying to stay out of the hospital because I have three tests tomorrow.  He said to just go NPO for a couple of days.  I have a history of ileus and small bowel obstructions and have let them resolve this way in the past.  However, I did not have issues with my blood sugar at that time.  Already, my blood sugar is down to 46.  Any suggestions as to how to get it up without eating?  I am going to have to take a glucose tablet.  I am waiting on my doctor to call back.

Hi all,

For those of us who are struggling to keep off our post-surgery weight loss, I thought I would link you to one of the most interesting, and enlightening explanations of obesity I have seen.  It's certainly no wonder I lost 70 pounds after VSG never touching carbs.  As soon as I reintroduced myself to bread, popcorn, cereal, etc. the weight creep began.  And all of it around my waistline.   Watching this video last night reminded me of why I can't and never will be able to eat like my "normal" son and husband. My body doesn't function the way theirs does.  And when I try to eat that way, I am damaging my health.  Hoping this helps someone else have their "Aha!" moment.  http://youtu.be/fL5-9ZxamXc

I am in a farming community and am fortunate too to have a local egg farm.  I love it! When I get out of the car, the chickens come over to "say hi". Plus i too am  supporting local businesses (and as a small business owner I know how important that is), and not supporting the mass farming industry which is often times no so pleasant for the animals, sad to say.

Totally crisp them up before use.  It will make a world of difference!

Yikes.  I often go out to eat with my sisters, and am always astonished at the piles of food being served. I always come home with boxes of leftovers.

If we don't exercise, we're doomed.

Sounds yummy to me. I recently discovered that there's a small farm not far from here selling free-range chicken eggs. (And very nice shea butter soap, too.) Just picked up a nice, *fresh* (as in this morning) dozen eggs for me and supported my community business at the same time. Gotta like that!

I've tried the bacon bits in the past, wasn't thrilled, but didn't try crisping them first. Gonna give them a second look!

I've been doing well following my plan, but then today I grab a handful of M+Ms and I could have eaten more. Really dislike these slips. OK, it's a new minute....onward to better choices.

B: 2 slices bacon, salad

L: Sandwich thin with deli turkey

D: Grilled pork chop with asparagus

S: Cinnamon toast pretzels

Unplanned snack...M+Ms

I also read an article recently about a woman who was told she had fibro and it ended up she had a mold infection.  I am in NO WAY saying that is what is happening in your case.  It was an interesting article and thought I would share for anyone interested...actually it is a link to the woman's site that got the diagnosis. http://toxicmoldillness.com/

In any case, I agree with the above posts tha****er activities would probably work best.  You can also try yoga or find a studio that specializes in yoga for limited mobility folks (including arthritis, obesity, etc..).  Any low impact movement will be beneficial.  You may not get the cardio of aerobics but at least you are moving.
