I have seen those cheese crisps and wondered how they tasted and turned out! Nice to hear from someone who actually has tried them! Were they difficult to make ( burn easily is my concern)? I will be giving them a try for sure now! Thanks for sharing :D

Good for you Ruthie!

I think we need to learn how to navigate our eating to do well in maintenance. You planned for your night out, awesome!

I think we can't and shouldn't compare ourselves now to right after surgery. Just because it's not fair to ourselves. After surgery our stomach was swollen from the surgery and it took a while for that to go away. However, I take what you are saying and agree totally.  I know I can fit more in now. That being said, coming back to OH and talking with people like you, Maria and Cathy has helped me to remember how I should eat.  Protein first even if it's more protein than 65gm a day. Yesterday was a good day and I ended up eating Mexican and having margaritas. I know that's not great for weight loss but I saved my calories for that. And that makes me feel good. I had a taco salad and to my surprise it was healthier than I thought it would be. Hahaha!  I guess God is looking out for me despite myself. Today I'm so jazzed to do good!  Yay us!

I agree,, this is a great place to get each other back on track.. It will be a struggle but we can do it!! I'm disappointed in my self for gain back what I did, but I'm digging myself out of this issue and WE will get the weight back off. The tool is still working, just have to utilize it!

Good question.

I think we should be able to eat more now than post op. I know my program says about a cup sized portion. Post op, I remember struggling to get 2 ounces of pureed protein down. I know some days I can eat more and other days, I feel like my pouch is tighter.

I had to take my scale back out and start measuring. Dense proteins definitely fill me up much faster than things like soup and yogurt.

I also make sure I am following the liquid restrictions, drinking to close to eating or too soon after I eat can affect how much I want to eat.

Good for you for getting back on track. That is how I started. I just took one thing at time to work on. First, I just got rid of the carbs, and got back on line for support. Still struggling, some days are better than others, but as long as I am trying, I can not fail!

Hi LeeAnn!

I am almost 5 years postop (in July) and I also let myself regain 30 pounds.

Carbs got me into trouble also. Plus I started to eat emotionally again and having hormone issues with insomnia, has not helped!

I have lost 12 pounds so far in the past 3 months. Coming off a lot slower this time around, but still have restriction, and still can dump. I think after getting off the carbs then I had some recently then wished I would not have done that!

We can do this together! It is so nice to have people who understand

That was a problem with me CARBS... I've not touched them in a week! My problem is the crunchy aspect of them, and I found a great replacement for the crunchies... I was on Pinterest for some ideas and came across cheese crisps... I tested a bunch of different cheeses till I found the one that crisp up like a cracker so now that's my go to snack.  I also know water has been a great help, I'm not a soda drinker, I'm also down 4lbs since Monday I know it's going to be a slow process but I'm determined to do it!! Good luck on betting back on track!!! I'm here for ya

Topic: portion sizes

I have just been thinking today about what and how much I was eating after my surgery. Since 'getting back on track' I have gone back to eating protein first and drinking water but now I am wondering if I am eating too large of portions. I feel like right after my surgery I could only eat very small amounts, now I am able to eat almost as much as I want! I "think" I am limiting myself to a good portion size, but to be honest I wonder if I am just over eating :(

I check out the recipes here frequently.  They don't list the calories etc so I figure them out myself before I decide I want to make it.  All of the recipes are WLS friendly but some of the recipes are designed for maintenance mode and that needs to be taken into consideration.
