Topic: FREEZING!!!

I really try not to complain about winter. It is what it is and I love having four seasons so have to accept it. but this cold is just unbearable!!! I don't even want to walk to my mailbox or my car to go to places I need to go like grocery shopping!!! So needless to say by yesterday there was nothing planned or available for dinner. Husband is working 12 hour days so he gets home very late. He offered to go up to deli and get some chicken for dinner. Awesome. I get to stay home and warm up. He sends a text the deli is closed and will be bringing home----TACO BELL!!!!!! OMG!! Panic mood kicks in, I just had pizza last night there is NO way I can justify taco bell tonight! I open pantry door and freezer looking for SOMETHING I can eat! Finally see a small ham in freezer and few eggs, cheese and mushrooms. YES, I can throw ham in Instant Pot (thank you for Christmas gift) and have an omelette for dinner. Just as he gets home from small shopping trip at grocery store and bag full of Taco Bell, I'm sitting down to a healthy omelette . I was so proud of myself! But....mental note need to be more prepared for times like this. Winter has just started. UGH!

I didn't notice any real difference in energy or really anything else yesterday. I'm hoping that is due to not having 'over' done it on the carbs night before. Did get temped again at dinner to make a poor choice due to poor planning, but ended up making the right choice!

Call it "recarb " day...And make the best out of it. I bet you would have energy today to exercise... ? Right?

When I do low carb - I may have issues with fast pace exercises...And my stamina is not that good.

And yes - carbs craving after a carb day or a meal are REAL.

Game night was fun but I did eat pizza this week. Not a lot, but I made it worse by eating it with ranch dressing (I'm told that is a Michigan thing). I'm not going to beat myself up over it. But also not going to lie and say I'm not disappointed in myself either. It's going to happen time to time I just need to stay in control. It didn't upset my tummy and I was kinda hoping it might to deter me from doing it again. But I'm in a very crabby mood this morning-can I blame it on that? haha It's a new day so here's to better choices today!

Topic: RE: Stress and Emotional eating

I hear you...

What I did was to limit the food I allowed myself to eat when under the stress.

For me it was chicken, pork, SF pickles and mustard. Initially I would eat until full. But after a few weeks my body learned that it was not getting carbs so the need to eat got less and less "urgent"...

During my biggest stress episodes....I may settle on PB eaten from a jar. But I only would "allow" myself to eat organic, no sugar added, and i did all "routine " with it.  Open a jsr. Get 1 tsp. Put the lid back on. Eat 1/2 tsp. Wait. Eat slowly the other 1/2. Wait. Open the jar....Etc... Typically the simple movement and concentrating on the steps would calm me down enough after eating just 1-3 tsp of PB. Really not enough to cause real "damage". Really hot shower was also me "reward" and allowed me to "wash the stress away."..

My BF is great - and like your DH - allows me to vent.

Hugs.. ?

Topic: Stress and Emotional eating

Wish I were one of those people who couldn't eat when they were stressed! I not only crave food when stressed but even more so when I'm angry!! I think it is funny when I'm not mad to think about it, but when I'm mad food is all I want!! I'm so thankful for my husband who always is there for me to vent too  for as long as I want and is super supportive during these times!! Many of the times just getting out of my system by venting to him is usually enough but there still are times I have turned to food. Just lucky that over the past few weeks it is a least healthier options of food. But I know even being healthy, turning to food when emotional is something I need to get a better grip on.

were you able to come up with any ideas.   I live in a house where everyone is on a different schedule and no one wants to cook.

That's a great idea.  Watching favorite bands on the tv while walking.  I too have gained my weight back in 9 years.  I have had both of my hips replaced within the past 12 months and need to start moving again.

Topic: RE: Exercise a Priority?

The older I get I read more and more about how lifting weights, using muscles becomes more important than cardio type exercise. I can tell my muscles are not what they use to be and I need them for the type of work I do! I come home from work sore much more often now than I use too. I would love to build my strength back up to where it was before and even better, but I am not sure I have it in me to be THAT dedicated.

to lose weight- 90 %is diet- 10% is exercise. But exercise helps to retain our muscles and improves circulation, and improves lymphatic circulation, and helps with heart, brain and other organs.

but- if you do some - physical work at the job - that may be OK.

I bought one of the fitbit.  I like it because it tell me how well I sleep, and how much  or little I move...

post op PSI had as little as 2000 steps recorded... that lasted for 2 weeks.. then I was in a car accident - again- I had not moved much... so my daily average for the next 2 weeks was like 3,000 steps.. in 4 weeks I lost a lot of muscles mass... I am over 50 - so it will take me months to rebuild those muscles... but I know I have to do it...

strong muscles emans strong bones... good circulation...
