For me, I had to avoid carbs and sugar to get back on track! Eating either of those caused cravings. Once they are out of your system again you can focus more on the things you should be eating!! Protein!!! Someone on one of these boards even told me to not worry about the amount of foods I was eating while getting carbs and sugars out of my system so I didn't feel deprived or hungry and I do think that helped! I could tell myself I could eat as much as I wanted and was happily surprised that VERY soon I actually was willingly eating less :) Give that a try and see if it works for you. Come to the boards often and read and post it helps WAY more than I thought it would!! We are all in the same boat and deal with same issue's so advise and tips from others is awesome. Best of luck to you and all of us!
White carbs of any type mess with me too. I'm holding on and doing well without them, for today anyway. Just taking it a day at a time and that is working for me.
Hello to everyone out there!! It's been quite a while since I've been on this board. I had WLS (RNY) on November 14, 2006. By the end of 2007, I had lost 130 lbs!! But slowly, I've gained most of it back, although not all. My daughter had the gastric sleeve two years ago and went from 295 to 125!! She wears a size 2 and has kept it off!! I'm so jealous!!!! So now I'm trying to back on tract and have NO IDEA where to start!! Fibromyalgia and RA have come into my life and they make exercising very difficult.
Does anyone have any idea of how/where to start? I've read that you never lose the ability of the pouch. I hope that is true! I want to get back to that healthy lifestyle and confidence.
Thanks for listening,
Deidrah

Mine was/is to go back on the eating plan my Dr. put me on after my WLS. So far so good as well! But after yesterday I realize I need to start working on my portion sizes. I'm not eat a whole lot more than I would like to, but I do need to be more aware of portion sizes. Seems when we are not very large to begin with, even a bite or two extra has a huge effect on the scale.
As far as the Gym goes..... I'll address that after the puppy gets better and I have more time :/ Even as I typed that it sounded like a cop out, but taking this getting Back On Track one obstacle at a time. Great job to you and best of luck to all of us!
I had quit making resolutions, but decided it was time to do at least one: No More White Carbs. I should be able to keep that one!
My next step has been to return to the Gym; 30-45 minutes three times weekly, mixing free weights, weight machines, and some stretches, etc. So far, so good!

Well that might explain why after work yesterday when I went grocery shopping and got home I was craving olives!! I mean who craves olives? Maybe my body knew it needed some salt? Never thought of dill pickles, but I will be sure to get some now. Thanks for the info.
low carbs cause loss of water and minerals.. - I need to make sure I add salt, magnesium and potassium to my drinks.
salt is a must. real sea salt. I use himalayan pink salt. Dill pickles...

Yesterday I started to feeling a little off. It wasn't real bad in the morning but as the day went by it seemed worse. This morning so far it is really bad. Light headed and shaky! I know I am eating enough so it isn't that. But then I started to remember that about a month after my surgery I had gone through a time where I felt this same way. Maybe my body getting use to no sugar? Or carbs? I don't really remember how long it lasted before but I hope it does not last long this time. I was lucky enough to not be working after I had my WLS so I was able to sit when needed and it didn't affect me THAT much. But now, I work and am on my feet the whole day! And with they type of work I do I HAVE to be "with it". But on the good side, I'm still eating GREAT and no soda or cravings for it either :D Maybe as long as I can keep coming up with meal idea's I am 'Back On Track' for sure!! Best of luck everyone
Good morning BOTTS:
206 lbs. this morning. I ate very little salt yesterday. I will take a new pound any way I can get it. 6 lbs. in 5 weeks for me is great. Now I need to keep it off and continue the downward trend. Have a great day everyone. Tri

Thank you Tri, she has a luxtating patella. We are lucky that it is only a grade 1 out of 4 so they do not want to do surgery (at this time). But trying to keep her calm so that the anti inflammatory can do it's work and in the future so no further damage is done is no easy task with a puppy :( I do have a salt weakness so I understand the puffiness you're talking about. I try not to let it bother me to much since I know it is only temporary. I'm hoping today goes well for all of us.
