I am trying something new today. I want to pay attention to eating healthy and tastefully. I made box mac and cheese but added 3 times the brown rice pasta. It was still tasty. I had coffee with 1% milk and sf flavoring. I want to enjoy food so that I can eat less of it. I'll see how that goes. Tri

I bought Nutrisystem a while back. The plan is 3 snacks of smart carbs (fruit or whole grain) and powerfuels (protein like yogurt, cheese, nuts) and 3 meals of veggies, whole grains and protein. Their plan is around 1200 calories so I was starving. I like the general idea of their plan though. I am used to the idea of this being a marathon rather than a sprint. I have to keep going and not lose focus as each of my cells scream out for more food as the weight slowly comes off. After all these years of failing, it is hard to have any self confidence and be happy. Tri

I went to bed after my 9 pm snack last night. Again I woke up a few times and drank a glass of water, but didn't go downstairs to find food. This morning I am waiting until 9 to eat breakfast because I have read 12 hour fasts are healthy. I guess I am getting desperate after almost 14 years of this. It seems that I have 3 levels of hunger. First is never feeling like I have swallowed food. Second is 2 hours after I eat and food has raced through my gut and my brain detects a lower blood sugar. Third is an over all hunger when I lose weight. It is a challenge. I really want to get into my old pre-op clothes and feel good about myself. Some have gone out of date but most are classic styles that I still like. It is a challenge. Tri

I lost 2 lbs. this morning. Alleluia!!! I woke up during the night hungry, but had a glass of water and went back to bed. I was awakened a couple times during the night by hunger. I am going to try to eat 1900 calories today. I want to continue cleaning out. Over the years I have donated tons of stuff. I have put my size 12, 14, 16 and 18 clothes in the basement. I am determined to at least get down to my size 16 clothes eventually. I went from size 12 to 14 to have the RNY. Then I gained weight and went into size 16s...then 18s...then 20 to 22. It was so sad when I had to shop for bigger and bigger clothes after my RNY. I really hope I can do this. Tri

Yesterday I ate 2050 calories of healthy food. I am up at 3 am starving. I am hoping that today goes better than yesterday by a hundred calories. I want to eat less than 2000 everyday and move 300 calories more...forever. I need to go back to bed and catch a few more hours of sleep.
This afternoon I am craving food. Clearly I have eaten too many calories, but 2 minutes after I swallow food I feel empty in my gut. I will do everything I can to eat under 2000 calories today. Tri

Good morning botts
I really need to get bot. I eat about 2300 calories of healthy food most days. I haven't been to the gym since March because of Covid. I weigh 230 lbs. which is 60 lbs. more than my normal weight before surgery. I had to gain 30 lbs. to have a 35 bmi to have surgery. The reason I had surgery was to "cure my diabetes". Type 1 diabetes is not cured by a RNY. My surgeon gave me a short bypass and a large stoma. He never told me why, but I assume it is because I was a lightweight. I haven't felt like I have swallowed food since my surgery. Tests showed that food slides right through my pouch with little resistance since my rny in 2006. I had the restore trial in 2007 and it didn't work. They stopped the trial early because it didn't work on us and it wasn't worth the risk. I realize that if I burn 300 calories a day more and eat 300 calories a day less I will reach my pre surgery weight of 170. This sounds so simple, but for decades I am unable to do that consistently. My general health has deteriorated since the rny. Generally I am sad since my surgery. I quit my job shortly after the rny because I thought the stress of work was causing me to not lose weight and my husband had a good job. It didn't help. So that is my history. I am going to log my food again starting today and find some sort of exercise I can do around the house. I would be happy to get under 200 lbs. once again. Wish me luck....Tri

Happy New Year
Congratulations on maintaining.
I never could lose weight when I tried to workout more. Unfortunately the only way I can lose is to restrict type of foods and calories, and use exercise as a bonus, good for heart and muscles health.
It seams that I can eat relatively more calories when I stay away from starchy carbs. Sure, then cane be lovely, and a nice sandwich, even open faced, tasted good and helps me feel fuller at that moment, but eating bread is almost always a reason for me to stall or start gaining.
I know you need to follow good for you plan.

I had 3 vacations and the holidays and didn't gain any weight back. I have been working hard around the house and getting to the gym. Still have 48 lbs. to get back into a lot of my clothes. I joined a new gym this year which is much nicer than my old gym. I am following my dot diet but have too many starch dots almost every day. I think that is costing me way too many calories. I need to eat 500 calories less every day or move 200 calories more and eat 300 calories less every day. Happy New Year resolution. Tri
I have been following the dot diet. I am back to 223 lbs. again. I am up to 1 mile on the bike and 2 lengths in the pool. I have a long way to go! The dot diet is working well for me. So far today I ate 2 proteins (egg, turkey sausage and turkey dog), 2 starches (80 cal toast and 80 cal. crescent roll), 2 veggies (salad and vegggie soup), 2 fruits (orange and peach) and 2 dairy (2 oz. cheese). I have one more serving of everything and 3 50 calorie servings of fat. Tri
I am logging my food on my dot diet sheet. I feel really good and plan on getting back to the gym today. I am aiming for 1/9th of a triathlon which is very simple...4 lengths in the pool, 1/3 mile on the treadmill and 1 1/3rd miles on the stationary bike. Even at my weight I can do that. My goal is to go to the gym 18 days in Sept. which will give me 2 sprint triathlons this month. Wish me luck, Tri
