80-100 g. Protein per day

5 small meals

Carbs in small amounts, no more than 30-40 per day

I was told no rice, pasta, etc, it expands so I suspect quinoa would be out too.

Water: lots, exercise: as I felt like it

Topic: Intro....Hi All!

Thank you for welcoming me to the group.  I will write a full fledge intro tomorrow, but long story short, I had Roux-en-y 5/29/2009.  My highest weight was 289, my lowest weight was 171.  I felt good at 171, but really had a goal of reaching 160.  I have slowly let carbs come back into my regular eating habits!!!!  And of course protein has been low.  So of course, I've had regain.  Right now I'm at 196 lbs.  My plan to get back on track is to do 2 protein drinks daily, a snack, and a meal.  I was thinking of doing this for a week or two sort of as a detox.  My question to you is where do you like to buy your supplements and vitamins from?  Best prices, etc?  I look forward to learning from and with you.

Here's the rest of the story:  I've been overweight my whole life, so a constant battle.  I had contemplated weight loss surgery numerous times after I turned 19.  After being blessed with three babies, I decided it was really time for me to do something for myself and my children.  Fortunately my approval process was quite smooth.  I had an excellent surgeon, with no complications to date (praise the Lord!).  The only issue I ran into, was my own fault.  I became severely anemic, but I was not taking my vitamins.  So learned that lesson the hard way.  Still not great at it, but much better and focusing on improving that.  I am a nurse, and work 12 hours shifts in a busy Emergency Department, and that is how I started slacking on my meal plans.  The time to commit was scarce, and I guess I wasn't really committed.  I would grab and eat when ever I could, whatever I could....leading to grazing!!!  I know that this combined with tooooooo many carbs is the cause of my regain.  Working to get that back under control.  I'm so glad that I found this group for support.  I am also currently in my Master's program, and have three very active kiddos.  So I really look to online support for my best option.  Again thank you for the acceptance.

PS:  I haven't figured out how to add pics to my post...I was going to include a preop and current picture for you...but they are in my profile.

Thanks much,

Sara

HI there....

1.  I was told 6 small meals per day...so that I'm eating every 3-4 hours, but no more than 20-30 mins per "meal"

2.  Carbs were to be very limited, under 40 per day...but I don't feel good if I eat that low

3.  Not sure on quinoa...have to look into that.  I'll be interested to hear what the other have to say on that.

:)

Ms. Court....thank you for the tips.....   Do you do protein shakes or bars, or do you get all of your protein from your food?  How much protein do you get per day?

Thanks much,

Sara
