My calories have been at around 800 a day sometimes a little less. This is what I need to do to lose. I maintain on about 1,100. I always have the restaurant not use salt as I have to follow a strict low sodium diet of no more than 750 mg a day. I also take a diuretic each morning, so I don't think it is water wait. Jumped on the scale today to see if it was gone, but it is still there. I will stay off the scale for the week so as not to drive myself crazy. I am doing very low carb under 20 grams a day. in an effort to lose the rest of the regain. I yelled at the scale today and feel better. It does not reflect the hard work I am doing, but I know I am doing very well with my food. Thanks for asking.
Cathy sorry you are feeling in a funk. Despite this you were successful in knowing it was head hunger and not caving in. Thanks for that inspiration.
B-protein shake
L-Chicken and brocoli
D-Samon and brocoli
S-sliced roast beef from deli
Still doing low carb and the scale moved in the wrong direction. Feeling frustrated, but what choice do I have but to keep doing what I am doing. I know it is going to take awhile to lose the regain and I have lost some. I'm impatient and want the results that I had after surgery. Now we all know that is not going to happen. Kind of like a toddler that wants what is wants and wants it now. I'm growing up slowly.
Just by joining this group and posting, you've taken two big steps to get back on track.
For you to have maintained for the year while you were off track is an accomplishment. When I've been off track, I've gained! Now all you have to do is get back on track as far as getting back to losing.
You can do this!! You did it before and you can do it again. Take it day by day and you'll build up momentum of being on track.

Our old habits can be so frustrating. You're already going back to healthy habits that will get you back on track. All the things you mentioned (tracking, focus on protein and water) are the things that helped me too. You're definitely on the right track!
This group has made a big difference to me. Posting in the daily thread of what's going on with me and my food helps keep me on track. I'm glad you and the others are members and we BOTT!

We had a pretty uneventful weekend because my husband wasn't feeling good. Fought head hunger because I was bored. There were things I could have done such as taxes. Probably part of the head hunger because I knew I could/should do them but wasn't in the mood to do them. Still feeling in a funk.
Here's my Monday eats:
B - 2 cups of coffee w/cream and Splenda
L - Chicken breast with steamed broccoli
D - Turkey meatloaf (leftover)
S - 6 wheat crackers w/1-2 T. of peanut butter
S - Apple
Have a happy, healthy day!

I hear ya! I had two periods of regain, 1st was 30 pounds and the 2nd was 32 pounds. I lost the regain but it was difficult. The regained weight came off very slowly, an average of 1-2 per week.
For me, each regain was a result of a difficult emotional time. I returned to the old habits of coping and eating for comfort and stuffing the emotions down. I found that the times that I want to eat are usually due to some sort of situation and emotion that is bothering me. My old habits return or want to return each time.
Is anything like that possibly underneath your own habits coming back?
We have a daily check-in and food accountability thread. I've found that really helps me. If I list it in that thread, then I'm much more accountable to myself.
I'm glad you posted so we can support you!

I haven't had this issue and I'm long-term post-op (14 years) like you are. Have you talked with the dietitian about this? I think it would be worth a call and even a follow-up appointment with him/her so you know what to regularly eat so your BS numbers aren't too low.

814 calories seems low. Are you eating enough? Just wondering because starvation mode can set in from not eating enough so our bodies hold on to what we eat.
I don't think you did a single thing wrong. Scales don't show if it is water retention (eating at a restaurant, possibly higher sodium food?) or some body fluctuation.
Are you feeling better today?

I'm ready to get back on track too. I had my surgery 2 years ago and I was doing really well until I had 2 flares, pancreatitis and then my galbladder out. I haven't been back on track since that happened and that was a year ago! I still have never reached goal and have basically just been maintaining for the last year. It's time for me to get back on track. I know what to do and I've been exercising so I've got that taken care of. It's just believing in myself again that I can continue this journey that I started. Where did my self confidence go??
