I mostly (yea, right....) follow my plan... But i refuse to weigh until 6 days after New year. Why 6 days? Because I have a doc appointmen and will not be able to avoid the scale anymore. Lol..
I am glad that my doc also had holidays...so she/he would not comment...i hope...
Joke aside, in reality, i really stayed on plan. With a few exemptions: I baked cookies - and i added raisins and blueberries...(more sugar than i would normally allow); I bought some special dessert..."Hail Merry" ...tarts and macaroons....so deliciously decadent..... And ate most of that. (No milk...or soy...); I also drunk more wine and ate more fruits...
However, I also had a few days that i was really low on calories...so overall...do not expect more than 2-5 lbs, mostly water gain...(typically i follow a very low carb diet - increasing carbs makes me retain more water).
Next week is New Year, and i will have 4 days off. I plan to get my "****" together and really reset my diet. I also really need to exercise if i want to be able to ski in February....
I got unlimited month of yoga plus lots of walking.
This is my plan...

Sounds great; good for you.
My goals are going to be the classic lose weight, exercise more, and maybe more importantly, figure out why I'm not doing those things for myself now...
Be safe, be cool.. and enjoy holidays.....
And if you indulge.. go for extra walk the next day and don't let the guilt make you eat the extra cookie....
500 extra calories at a meal do not made us into MO ..doing that EVERY day, every meal for a while - did... so ... one time - forgive yourself or use that as "WTH" moment... have fun..sing, dance an be Merry... even if you are agnostic or had nothing to do with christmas...
Happy Holidays!!
Happy Hanukkah!!
Happy each and every day!!!!

I go back to a diet mentality at times. I set goals for the weight I want to lose each week. I will weight, measure, plan, and track my food and liquids. I will have daily goals for protein, fiber, fat, and carbs.
If I do not lose the amount of weight I have for my weekly goal, then I will adjust the food lower. I am working on losing ten pounds by the start of Spring. That will be about 10 weeks and put me lower than I have been in four years.
If I just have a vague goal like eating right, then it is too easy to get off track. I need to be on track 100%.
I will actually start on Monday, January 5 and post my menus and weight loss here.

why start after the new year? why not now?

Last year I gained six pounds between Thanksgiving and New Years and am determined not to let that happen again. So far, I have not, but will still be making my annual New Years Resolution to eat better and exercise more.
I have been eating lunch and buying snacks in our company cafeteria and while it is easy, the food is not the quality that I should be putting in my pouch. My New Year's plan is to pack a good lunch every day. That requires a new lunchbox and I have picked one called Fitmark that comes with containers, a shaker bottle for protein drinks, and a compartment for vitamins.
I do better when everything is organized and planned ahead and hope that this will help me to stay motivated.

So close to Christmas...and the get-together diinners, full of food that is so yummy...and fattening.
But at the same time there are a lot of food that are full of proteins, and really can help us stay on track.
My motivation is my NEW Year Eve ..and what i plan to wear. I put that thing on front of my closet doors to remind me why i make good choices during holiday dinners. As most of us, i already had of lot of them to attend. Family get togethers, work functions, getting together with close friends...and that dress on closet doors reminds me why i don't want to gain 5 or 10lbs...
So far so good.
One of my tricks to help me, is to wear a belt with any outfit i have on during those "get togethers". The belt puts slight pressure on my gut, as a reminder to not overeat.
My other issue is wine. I love my wine....and i always start gaining weight if i drink to much wine. I also can eat a lot when i drink wine...
So other trick of mine is be designated driver. That allows me to have 1 small glass of wine in the beginning of a meal, and as long as the get -together is longer than 2-3 hours, that small glass of wine get metabolized and i am good to drive. On short visits - no wine or other alcohols....
If i want to make sure there are things i can eat - i do bring a dish. (And i make sure to get some just for me before the crowd devours that ....lol...)
And I carry my personal snacks with me, in my purse and in my car. There are a lot that do not require refrigeration, specially in winter time.
Also...fortunately for me i am old enough that i refuse to be "guilted" or otherwise "made to eat" food that i choose to avoid. No family pressure, or friends. Noone makes fun of me (at least in front of me) because of the diet i follow. I refuse to be friends with someone who can / would try to do that. Fortunatelly for me, family knows better, and my BF is there 100% on my side.
If nothing else helps - telling people i am allergic it, or that food like that would me me ill, usually works with the worst of them. (I do have severe food allergies and intolernces...)
If i get gifts that are in form of candies, baked goods, or other sugary stuff, i gratefully accept that, and right away think of someone i can give that to. I.e. those lovely Southern Pecan brittles.....they will be a gift to someone. I won't even open the box (My BF does not care for them
These are my tricks to keep me on track...what are yours?
