Ive browsed around all of these forums and the majority of people I see posting are "newbies". I like to consider myself an "oldie but goodie". I wished there were more people who like myself are past 10,12,15 years so we could support one another. My surgery was October 2005. I sometimes feel like I did before RNY. Trying all of these back on track rules and watching the scales go up thinking there has to be a way to stop this right? I think things really got off track for me when I had surgical menopause in 2015 before that I was able to maintain comfortably. Now I am 35 pounds over what I want to be to feel good and healthy. So finding out I had hypothyroidism around 2012 or so then surgery I think set my hormones off in a negative path and yes I take bio identical hormone replacement, armour thyroid and still have all of the hypothyroid symptoms.....No I am not close to 300 pounds like I used to be but I am not happy with where I am. I used to have trouble gaining weight so much so that my surgeons office said that if I didn't gain they were going to "reverse" my RNY....not sure that would have worked considering I had other medical issues. I went to my surgeons office this past Oct and what a joke that was....to be offered "diet pills"? Really people? I mean what good does a diet pill do when you really do not eat that much? And its your metabolism that has slowed to a crawling pace? Sorry I just think I can't be alone on this one? There has to be other people besides myself dealing with some of these things? He even said oh it looks like your hormones are off and you aren't at the weight to do a revision yet so what can we do for you? Hello? Ok well I already took control of my health issues years ago by going to a naturopathic doctor and doing a lot of investigating of what could be going on- granted medical doctors aren't fond of those who choose to take control of their own medical issues....Ok is there anyone in here that would like to discuss some of the struggles of those who have hypothyroidism, menopause, weight gain? if not , thank you for listening! :) have a great day!

I feel your pain. I have struggled since the beginning. At 1 year post op I had only lost 15 lbs. I was in the Restore trial (endoscopic revision) which they stopped prematurely because it wasn't working. Every day is a struggle because I haven't felt like I swallowed food since the pre op diet in Sept. 2006. I do best when I write and edit my daily food and exercise plan on this forum. People are supportive or at least they don't criticize. I also had a hysterectomy during which they put a hole in my bladder, damaged my ovaries and I couldn't pee so I cathed for a year until after 2 repair surgeries and hormone replacement I am doing well. I would be happy to lose 35 lbs. and get back into my good clothes. Good luck with your journey. Tri

Thank you for the reply! I see that your struggle was real. I agree posting what you eat probably helps a lot. Thank you for doing that. I think its possible I just tell myself I do not eat that much but maybe its more than I think it is. Hopefully you are continuing to do well!
