Moment of Weakness

Pizza is my weakness. Not a day goes by I don't think of it. Even when the carb cravings are gone, the memory of pizza never leaves and I miss it! I am a all or nothing type person so "things in moderation" is typically not for me. BUT last night I gave in and had pizza. NOT the end of the world is what my rational mind is thinking. But it is a huge worry for me. I KNOW myself. I know in the past it can be a slippery slope for me! "Giving in" to pizza can turn into a weekly "cheat" meal. A weekly "cheat" turns into weekends are free. And so on :( I need to let it go and move past this. Today, the next meal, these are what I can control now and what will matter. On the plus side, I have tummy cramps like crazy this morning, I'm guessing from carbs :) Should help the cravings from coming back ( temporarily anyways). Hope all are well.

most of us do something like that once in awhile... I know I did way too often. Still do..

but I don't allow that to be an excuse  for a whole day or whole week... I know my body can handle things like that once in awhile...

when eating out - my new answer to a question/statement "can you eat that?" or "you can't eat that, right?.." is "I can eat anything and everything as long as I am willing to deal with the consequences". For me - that may be cramps, or dumping,or severe constipations, or RH, ...etc...all of those ....

I wish I had consequences when I eat wrong.  I have purchased a Tombstone pizza occasionally with the intent of having it for 3 or 4 meals.  Every time I have eaten it in 1 sitting...700 to 800 calories.  I have bought a slice at Sam's club with the intent of leaving the huge crust end, but the whole piece slides right down.  No consequences except a high blood sugar.  After I will feel less hungry but not feel any fullness.  I guess that is why I am still over 200 lbs.  I can't keep pizza in the house except for s small 400 calorie pizza which counts as a whole meal.  I can use a whole wheat pita or one of my Santa Fe tortillas to build my own pizza.  They usually add up to 400 calories too.  I try to do the best I can...day by day...meal by meal.  I watched a 600 lb. show on tv and I swear if I didn't count and measure, stock my pantry, not eat out too often etc. I would easily weigh 600 lbs. even after a RNY.  I like the taste of food.  I like food from any culture.  Portion control is another problem...1 is good, but 2 is better. This is why I hang out here posting my food plan, moving as much as I can, joining in on weight loss challenges at my health club, go to Weight  Watchers meetings and a support group offered by a surgeon (not my own) for guidance and support.  A Weight  Watcher leader told me once to stop eating as soon as I can, forgive myself and walk around the block when I start binge eating.  Feeling guilty can just lead to feeling badly about myself and more eating.  I hope you feel better today.  Tri

My consequences for eating bad are usually mild and short lived. I try to keep them in mind to help deter but usually the urge to eat pizza far out weighs the fear of the consequence. You are very right though, feeling guilty will lead to feeling bad about ourselves and eating more! EVERYONE eats more or things they shouldn't every once in a while!! So we have to not dwell on that. BUT we do have to be tough on ourselves. We are trying to lose weight! We ARE going to be hungry and ARE going to have to deny ourselves things we crave! Fact of life when losing weight. Each time I turn down a bad food choice or walk around "hungry", I tell myself I should be proud! Those are the moments that will make a difference with the scale! Those are the times my body is burning the fat away. I think it is important for our bodies to learn what REAL hunger is again. I think we forget after years of being over eaters what REAL hunger feels like. If we are not REALLY hungry at times then we are over eating! And I know for me personally, the less I eat the less it takes to fill me up. I do have to go through a period of hunger, but after a week or two at most I feel full much quicker sooner! I have to plan how much I am going to eat BEFORE I start to eat my meal. When that is gone, I am done! Hungry or not! And I have to eat SLOW! If I do, I can some times even finish a meal and leave some on my plate because I am full. We are all in this together and with support from anywhere we can get it we WILL succeed :D
