Back On Track Together
happy, happy, happy to be BOTT
The last two years have been a freaking nightmare. While this is over simplifying the matter, I had two knee surgeries (October 2014 and April 2015) and was not working for five months. There are other nasty contributing factors which I won't include here but the bottom line is that I gained 45 freaking pounds. I am happy to say, however, I am BOT! (can you hear my best Arnold Schwartznegger impression?) I am finishing day 8 of careful diet tracking with MFP and also a daily treadmill walk ranging from 45mins to 120mins. Apparently my fitness level is still intact even if my body isn't. I'm looking forward to skiing this winter. I am also looking forward to maybe being a runner again which I was pretty sure was not going to happen since,at 43, I seem to be destined for bi-lateral knee replacement. Here in Canada, they don't like to even look at you for those things unless you are lurking around 50. It was killing my life's joy.

I had both knees scoped, patella reshaped, partial meniscus removal, heavy fluid removal, and calcification filed off. I am considered way too young for replacement which, while medically sound, isn't really economically or physically sound. Isn't it more important to be an able bodied, contributing person now rather than give me new knees when I'm retired out of the workforce?
