Cookouts:BBQ,baked beans, and cake OH MY!

Okay, so my oldest daughter is home from San Diego (I live in Indiana). We are having a big BBQ cookout with all the fixings tomorrow. My game plan is to use a small plate and choose my favorite dishes in small quantity and talk a lot. I just lost two pounds this week and would really be depressed if I gained weight next week.

What do you guys do on special occasions?

I have not had to deal with a family gathering yet during my re-losing. In the past while I was still losing for things such as this or weddings I tryed to just find the lean meats there (no buns or breads) and cheese platters. And like you, I kept my mouth busy talking!! lol It's a great time to socialize and that will be and should be your main focus. Best of luck and ENJOY your daughter!!! Have a great day.

Hope your BBQ went well. I had 2 large big group meals this weekend. The one with friends went well. The family one inspired cake eating. Oh well.

Hi Deb,

BBQ went great. I'm really enjoying my daughter being home.

Off WLS topic. Just read your post on another forum. Wanted to let you know my husband had a kidney transplant 22 yrs ago and is doing great.

p.s. I had a piece of cake too.

Take care,

Amie

Hope your cook out went well and you had a great time spending it with your daughter.

I do not have any great tips, but I do try make something I know I can have and make sure I have breakfast and lunch, so I will not be too hungry.

If I am not in control of the meal, I always have a protein snack before I leave. If I go hungry, it is too easy to reach for things I should not be eating.

I did remember a dish that works well to take for summer parties or year around if your with my people. It's potato salad made with cauliflower and it's great for me to eat with a hunk of meat. Make mine steak!
