Weekends or days off

Wondering if others find weekends or your days off work more difficult? I find keeping busy outside of my home (away from the kitchen) easier to control my snacking. On my days off when I am cleaning around the home or watching tv I get more tempted to snack and over eat! I use to look forward to my days off work so I could relax and have some 'me' time, but now I kind of worry about not being able to stay on track. I know this is something I have to work on because being able to stay strong with temptations is a part of life.

Hey Brandi,

I'm a housewife and found myself continually grazing all day. It has really decreased since I've been tracking everything I eat no exception. Monday I was eating 1500 calories (yikes) by Friday I was down to 1000 calories and very satisfied. I tell myself to drink two glasses of water before eating anything. By the time you wait the half hour, usually the temptation has gone away or its time to get busy on the house again. I also got a before picture out of me at my highest weight, put it where only I will look. That helps too. Sometimes you just got to give in and eat what your craving. I believe if you eat a small portion the craving will go away. Remember we are not on a diet we are living a healthy lifestyle. So I think if we are eating healthy 90% of the time we are doing great.

I have been writing down everything I eat but I don't count calories. I just have cut out carbs (with the exception of carbs from veg) and no sugar at all (with exception of honey) and as long as fat grams are less than 5 per serving. I have thought about getting a picture of me at my highest weight along with one from me at my lowest next to each other as a motivator to eat healthier. I may do that now since you said you feel it does help you looking at where we no longer what to be! I'm trying not to think of how I'm eating as a diet, but I am a all or nothing person so I have to work on knowing there will come a time I eat something I shouldn't and that should not be reason to completely fall of the 'wagon'! I just have in the back of my mind all the time that I am trying to lose weight at this point not maintain my weight. So I may need to cut back on my portion sizes :/ I will have to work on that yet.

Weekends are easy for me because i have more time for me. I can spend time cooking the perfect meal for me, including pancakes, waffles, or just overall great meals.  I keep good for me snack food at home - like porkrinds, salsa, avocado...

I have the time to take a bath....and read a book. Be outside....

Finding recipes for food that i can cook on weekends makes me look forward to the weekend.

I still cook for my partner some normal food...like pizza, or some rice. But most of the time he eats like me, low carbs.

Easy, waffles (that can also be used as pancakes)

I add some stevia to mine, and some orange flavor. I also use coconut oil instead of butter, plus I use just normal unsweetened almond or coconut milk.   So good. This recipe yields a lot.  I make it all, then keep the rest for a quick reheating during the week. It is not a low calories, but had a lot of fiber, and it is a very low carb.

How true! Days off are a great time to experiment with new recipes we may not have time to try after getting home from work. I do try to keep as busy as possible and when the weather is nicer, try to be outside as much as I can  My husband also has been eating low carb like I have been which makes it easier to cook meals. We do find eating out more difficult I have to admit. Which is hard because that has always been something we enjoyed doing together on our days off together. It just takes some planning and asking for things to be cooked a certain way. Thanks for the waffles/pancakes recipe!! I am always looking for new and different things to eat!!!

This is definitely a problem for me!  But this problem has magnified itself since last summer when I got a new job and I now work out of my home!  Working from home is fabulous but the only down side is that I am always thinking about food.  I've gained 17 pounds since I started working from home and in the last month, I lost 5.  :)  I'm back on track and it's been slow but I have to stick with it because summer is coming and I love summer!

Getting back on track for me is being here, with all of you.  You all help me.  Thank you.
