Help with NPO and hypoglycemia
I had an X-ray on Friday that showed I had an ileus. My doctor never called me. I didn't know this until I read the radiologist report today. So I called my GI doctor ( the original order was from my primary care doctor.). He confirmed that I had an ileus. He knows that I am a nursing student and am trying to stay out of the hospital because I have three tests tomorrow. He said to just go NPO for a couple of days. I have a history of ileus and small bowel obstructions and have let them resolve this way in the past. However, I did not have issues with my blood sugar at that time. Already, my blood sugar is down to 46. Any suggestions as to how to get it up without eating? I am going to have to take a glucose tablet. I am waiting on my doctor to call back.

How are you doing? Any updates as to the cause?
