Not making an ass out of myself as motivation

Well As you all know I'm struggling, I'm really struggling. I've about given up. TODAY I'm making a change. I registered for a 5k on May 30th and I start training today. Keep in mind I am completely sedentary. I do NOTHING but sit on the computer all day. A big work out for me is having sex with my husband or cleaning my house. I really do NOTHING all day. NOTHING. ok I think you get the idea. I do nothing. Lol. I'm going to start walking for a week. then I start my couch to 5k training. I am determined to do this and do it right. When I was losing weight on my own I was about 20 lbs less than I am now when I did my first and only 5 ****il this one. I finished the race in approximately 48 minutes. So my goal is to finish in 40 minutes or less this time. I have a 5 k training program on my phone and am going to start as soon as possible.  I'm very excited but terrified. i do not want to make an ass out of myself so that is my motivation. I don't want to be made ot look like a fool especially of my own doing. Is anyone else doing anythign like this? If not would you be interested in finding a 5k near you and trying to register for one close to the date of mine so we can do this together? I would love the support. Ok Hugs everyone.  Have a happy happy healthy day

good luck.. be proud that you can do it and want to do it...

I found that heavy duty exercise drops my Bs too  low and makes me hungry..  I know that works for some people.. the endurance.. and the happy hormones... endorphins..

as I get older - yoga and walking is my to go tool.. long term - slower... I do love hiking ...

The weather is S**T here and going to be until this weekend. I'm going to start the couch to 5k on Saturday. I can handle doing it in the rain and even in the snow but it's just not possible in the ice which is what we are expected to have which started this morning. I'm a little worried about my age and my weight making this a little more difficult than last time. I'm 39 this time around and I weigh 20 lbs more than last time. I guess I do have some time to lose some of that while training for the next 12 & 1/2 weeks. That's a good amount of time to get myself ready for the race. I looked up my last time for the 5k I did before. I had a 48 min 19 sec so I want to do this one no more than 45 min but would prefer to do it under 40 minutes!!!!

I started running at 39!  Once I started, I didn't stop.  I ran 11 races - including a half marathon!  The thing that got me started running was registering for a race and using the Couch to 5K app.  You've got this!

Good for you Jenniflower!  You didn't just think about it but registered for the 5k.  I had a total knee replacement surgery in December so a 5k in May is a little too ambitious.  I've set a goal to do a Turkey Trot 5k on the morning of Thanksgiving so if you want to do another one then, we can virtually do them together.

I know of quite a few people that have used the Couch to 5k app and liked it.  I'll probably do it again when I'm more stable and balanced with my bionic knee.

If you'd like, post what training you did that day/week so we can support you.

You Go Girl!

Cathy

It's a date Cathy!!! If I can find one for Thanksgiving day I'm in!!!! I will definitely be able to do it then and will have a new goal for a new time. By then I should be able to do it with flying colors and should be working on my speed not my endurance.  Wouldn't that be awesome. I'm going to do some research now and see if there are any in the area on or around Thanksgiving THanks for the offer its just more to keep me motivated!!!! YOu are awesome.
