High Blood Pressure

So I joined this group the other day and have been tracking my food.  Last April I had a shoulder injury and completely fell off the excercise wagon and gained some weight.  Now my blood pressure is up.  Yesterday, I went to the ER because I was having chest pain.  Everything checked out fine, but scared the crap out of me.  I'm vowing to start my exercise program again next week and stay on track forever I hope.  I just wanted to share and ask if anyone else's blood pressure went up with re-gain.  Thanks

low level of calcium and magnesium may manifest as high BP.

Hi Vera,

Welcome to BOTT - I'm glad you joined our group.

I regained 30 and 32 pounds (yes, two regains!!!).  Thankfully my blood pressure didn't change.  Your regain might not be the cause of your blood pressure being higher.  It could be a number of things such as other medications, deficiencies or lifestyle.

I'm glad you went to the ER and checked out fine.  That would be an alarming wake-up for anyone.  Are you going to have your blood pressure checked again or was there any follow-up recommended?

Way to go with your commitment to exercise and staying on track.

Cathy

They only suggested getting a stress test if I continued to have issues, but I'm going to monitor my blood pressure for awhile anyways.  I did go to the chiropractor and had a pinched nerve in my shoulder that could have been causing the chest pain because I feel much better now, but I'm still very nervous about the whole siduation.  I feel like I'm being paranoid now, but I keep telling myself something my husband said in the ER.  He said "99% of the time you're fine, but 1% of the time you die"  so basically, better safe than sorry.  I'm glad I joined this group!  I've always found this site to be a great source for support!
