Back again - I've regained a LOT and I need a buddy to help me get back on track!

I had my surgery back in 2006 and I was very successful. I lost to my goal weight, but due to a LOT of changes I've regained about 70 pounds. I need some help getting back to the basics and I would love to have an accountability partner. I know I can do this, I just need a push once in a while. :)

Hello Kari.

I had Lap Band surgery 09/06/2006.  When I had lost 75 # I had a massive heart attack, that slowed me down for quite a while.  Then a Year later I had to have a pacemaker implant. I finally got down to 135 # from 240 #, Oh my it was heaven !  Then a few falls later and a few more blown discs and my weight was up almost 40 # !  How did that happen ???  When did that happen ??? Then I started having terrible reflux and my surgeon emptied my band--oh oh !  Now I really have to watch what I eat :-(  Anyway, My weight stabilized at about 150 when I was told Low Carb High Fat would be good for me.  I can't seem to make it at 20 carbs or less a day tho.

Sorry for rambling on for so long, wanted to let you know you are not alone, hang in there Lori, we can do this !!!

Your not alone Kari :)

I think many of us long term-ers need that accountability factor. I am over a decade out (2002) went from 320ish to 170 ish (im 5'8") and than with a new marriage I crept up to 245ish (uggg)

So tis year I vowed to make life changes that I will stick with and make it to 215 by 2015.

Im on a great track, wish i was loosing more but its all about being happy with life and what makes life, so my diet is not as drastic as it could be.

You Can Do IT!

That is similar to what happened to me. I lost down to 141 from 311. Then I got a divorce, met and married my current husband, had a hysterectomy and a cross country move that has helped my weight zoom back up to 224! I am going to have to go cold turkey on the chips and crackers (big no-no, I know)! I have just started tracking in myfitnesspal to see where my weakness lie and get a handle on things. How are you tracking what you eat and do? Any suggestions for me?

I'm  using "My Fitness Pal" and tracking everything I eat.  The calories, carbs , sugar, fiber, fat, protein, that way I can keep track of where I am going over

and where I need to have more.  I try not to eat anything white, like potato, bread, pasta, rice,---all the good stuff :-)  Go to the Atkins website and check

out the "Induction Phase" it will tell you everything you need if that's the way you want to go :-)

I'm using myfitnesspal.com to track and Atkins Induction - so I'm glad to hear that I'm on the right track. Just need to cut out the extra crap that I know is not good for me and stay on track.

Thanks everyone! :)

I would honestly say that this group has helped to stay motivated. I've been reading the discussion postings for about 2 years, but never really posted much until today. So I would definitely come to this group for support. If you have time to post and it helps keep you accountable, then do whatever works for you. Just remember you were successful once, and you can always do it again. Just believe in yourself and you can do anything.
