Happy Labor day cafe and cardio....challenge?

3 months ago I challenged myself to get under 200 lbs. by Labor day.  Well that didn't happen, but I lost 4 lbs. rather than gaining.  I'll take that as a warm up for further weight loss.  I did the Mayo clinic diet and stopped it and restarted it.  I like the diet but the food database was not very good.  The rules are simple: 3 fruits, 4 veggies, whole grain starches, lean protein and dairy, no TV or computers while eating (this only works about 30% of the time for me), move 30 minutes more, write down your food, only veggies and fruit between meals, etc....you know the rules.  Most of us formerly obese people have tremendous nutrition knowledge.  I also missed the people on BOTT.  I think that even an internet group is supportive.  My family and friends don't know I had a RNY so they don't understand my struggles like the people on OH do.  Hopefully I will get under 200 lbs. by Christmas.  I am not pushing the diet on anyone because we all have to do what works for us as individuals.  What I like best is the fruits and veggies only in between meals because when I feel "starving" before a meal I tell myself, "have a salad".  Sometimes a salad isn't appetizing and I know it is head hunger or cravings rather than the real thing.  Happy Labor Day.  Tri

My plan today:

B: 2 eggs, 1/2 pita, 2 light laughing cow cheese wedges

S: veggie soup, salad, 1/2 avocado, nectarine

L: chicken, 1/2 pita

S: veggie soup, salad, 1 oz. cheddar cheese and 1 c Greek plain yogurt and blueberry smoothie

D: 4 oz. chicken breast and 2 oz. whole wheat roll

S: baked apple with cinnamon and sf syrup

Good morning Tri!

I am glad you found something that works for you.  I wish i could eat more fruits without my BS fluctuating like crazy.  The RH is really bad side effect to have.

My main issue is my wine. I like it, and even if i drink a whole bottle one day, i don't have any major negative side effects from it.  And i get a lot of positive. (Less gut pain after eating, and normal BM the next day).

Even a glass of wine with dinner may affect if i get gut pain after our not.  If i have wine - i can have i never salad. But no wine and salad will cause severe gut pain (gas and bloating) . I tried digestive enzymes, but it is not the same.  (I deal with IBS-C. Constipation issue).

I do plan to give up wine next 2 week's, and really follow a very strict diet (to avoid the pain)

Today is my first day of "super clean" eating.

Today:

Coffee+ Miralax.

Teas and water

Protein pancakes, bacon, (made bunch of them)

Chicken with some veggies (add digestive enzymes)

Protein bread w roast beef, pickes or

Salmon with veggies.

Avocado Chocolate pudding, with proteins and some frozen berries.

Lns: nuts.

My eating starts at 12 or 1 pm. I follow 12-16 hours intermittent fast, then try to eat low carb pale type diet (more fat)

Exercise: home yoga, stretching, housework.

Hi Hala

We all have to follow our bodies.  I have struggled for 8 years with RH.  2 hours after I eat protein and complex carbs I have RH and a melt down.  For me fruit and veggies is holding me to the next meal.  I battle obesity still even though I had a RNY.  I don't think it ever worked right...no honeymoon period.  You are doing a great job with your weight control and have found a way to eat so that your body works.  If I felt better with a glass of wine at dinner I'd do it.  My doctor told me a glass of red wine at dinner is healthy.  I have tried it and my blood sugar goes way up, I get flushed and don't feel good.  I put an article about RNYs and RH on my profile "my story".  I was in the Restore trial shortly after my surgery because my pouch was too big and my stoma was 25mm.  The trial failed but they got some interesting results on RH from oversized pouches and food dumping into the intestines too fast raising blood sugars and then RH.  You are doing great and many people are learning from your sharing. Have a great holiday.  Take care, Tri
