I'm two years post op and have had low ferritin since before my surgery.   What does the rest of your bloodwork say....in terms of hemoglobin and hematacrit?   Mine are always normal, even though my ferritin is low, so my doctor is beginning to think it may just be my normal.   I take 180mg of carbonyl iron at night before bed with 1000mg of Vit C.   No matter how much I increased my iron, I couldn't get the ferritin to budge.

I'm not sure that my comment helps, but maybe to know you aren't alone.

Hello!  I think the rest of my labs were good, but I will review again for sure. The endo and my other doc went over them and I have a copy.  I had a dip a few months postop but came back up when I started on iron.  For years since, my ferritin and other labs have all been good.  I was taking all my iron at night before I went to bed, but now am taking 120 three times a day with food.  I donate blood regularly, which is how I figured out there was a challenge and then a situation!  Thanks for supporting me!
