Home From Surgery!!!
Hello BOTT Family,
I had my gall bladder surgery yesterday (7/10/2014) and I'm still experiencing a lot of pain, but I know this too will pass. I noticed that my food intake is now very limited almost feeling like I did when I had the RNY. Could I still be feeling the effects of the anestia or is it possible that the doctor gave me a little nip and tuck on my pouch??? Your thoughts please!!!
Glad you OK. Who knows !? But if nothing - thee swelling aftert GB removal surgery may make the pouch feel smaller. Use it - try only eat enough not to be hungry.

I had GB Surgery 6 months post op. I lost 20 lbs in 5 weeks because of that. And kept losing and I was at goal in 10 months. Like you - found new restrictions.
Watch for constipation issue. Too much fat - I have runs now. But otherwise need lots of Miralx to prevent constipation.
Fat is my friend. Bile from GB stimulate food movement in a gut - lack of bile - things stop moving - not cool. Adding fat to my diet allows for more of "slippery" effect and helps to force liver to make more bile. (Good thing)
I notice that when I get constipated - I stop losing - body can absorb every morsel I eat.
I am sure you know that... U hope you don't mind me sharing my personal experience. I had daily BM yet I was getting more and more backed up - with severe pain - that I did not know was from "being full of it"

Glad to hear you're post-op and on the mend! Anesthesia, and pain meds can slow peristalsis (the rhythmic movement of your intestines), causing constipation and decreased appetite. Take advantage now, and eat only enough to stave off hunger...protein first, and vegetables (fiber) to help things move. Drink PLENTY of water. By using the suppressed appetite, you'll essentially be eating the way you did post-GBS, re-training your pouch, and your mindset
