Wednesday cafe and cardio
Note: I typically post and respond from my tablet - so please forgive spelling mistakes and typos. Plus ... I am originally from Poland - and sometimes I use my Pol-english phrases, beside that - don't have any more excuses. It's just me.
I went to yoga (finally) for 2 days in a row.. OMG... Things hurt today I forgot it can hurt. Like my fingers and toes. The rest I know and remember they can hurt. Next few days would interesting. I still plan to go to yoga on Thursday... if I can walk and move.
Today I have lovely iron infusion...3rd in series of 4.
3- 4 hrs straped to IV. I probably will sleep 2 off them (IV benadryl to prevent allergic reaction)
Eating will be - have to be - very simple - protein shakes and coffee. Nuts. Even with IV iron I get belly cramps. Most people don't - I am just "freaking " special. And then I get constipated so I would need to make sure to double Miralax before and over the weekend. I will be back to normal in the beggining of next week - just before my 4th and last iron.
But - I am really lucky and greatful for my hema that understands I can't go to anemic before I get infusions. He allows me to "top- up my iron" when my ferritin go under 30... Even if my other blood markers are normal. I know I am very very lucky. And he ius as really good guy.
Today eats:
Coffee + coffee + Miralax
Green tea...
Lemon water (6 years post op and I still can't drink plain water)
Protein shakes and more coffee... Maybe protein cookies...and nuts
LNS: nuts...
Exercise - nope.... But I plan to see chiro...
Please post and let's support each other.. No judgement here...if we were perfect we would not need WLS ...or be here in BOTT group.

I saw my endocrinologist this week and all my levels are good......so sorry that you have to get iron infusions that wipe you out and make you feel yucky.
I am definitely going to grocery store today and get some fresh veggies and more fruit. I am craving a decent salad and grilled chicken or pork chop. Funny, I never craved healthy foods before surgery...it was always a hamburger or mexican food!
my eats for today.....morning vits taken. Water started
breakfast.....coffee/miralax elixir..........cottage cheese/ pineapple
snack..........grapes
lunch...........turkey/cheese wrap
snack...........should be back from grocery store and can have my pick of fruit
dinner...........grilled chicken or pork, salad
snack............maybe some protein coffee or shake, depends on my protein levels
I hope all of you have a great day !! I plan to !!
now there is nothing wrong with a good burger, how dare you put it in bad food category... I eat them all the time...(the rant and and angry face is a joke - hope you know. that ..)
( i do eat them..and good burger - is good for you....I skip the buns and the mayo - but loads of mustard and pickles.. and tomato..) I do have to watch for burgers with fillers - soy and bread crumbs or other fillers.. - surprisingly - many of the commercial cheap burgers will have that...

I like the 5guys burgers - with a side of 2 x yellow mustard, crispy bacon and lettuce and tomato... they are sooooo good... with a side of Peanuts... I typically can eat 3/4 of one.. no fries no cheese - and I use 5-6 napkins to bloat the grease... ( I like the grease but my guts with no GB do not - good .

Just got in from my Doctor's appointment. Damn this getting old isn't for sissies. I had labs drawn last week and my iron is looking great. It has dropped just a bit from last summer (after the infusions it was a whopping 138 it was 111 in this draw). The only thing wonky was my cholesterol. It's up. My weight was down 3 lbs in 6 months so she thinks I'm fighting simple genetics. Hello Lipitor my new bestest friend.
I really love my primary doc. She's wonderful. She doesn't even seem to be taken aback when she cheerily asks me "How are you?" and I rely "I'm a *****" She just seems to understand that taking away my estrogen has been painful (more so for those around me than for myself). We're trying a new (to me) antidepressant, a topical hormone and continuing my xanax. I've told Skinny Man that I'm giving traditional medicine until I'm 50 and then we're moving to whereever medicinal marijuana is cheapest I'm feeling better already.
The food plan for today is looking like:
commute: coffee
breakfast: 1/2 bagel w/ cream cheese
lunch: Panera Fuji Apple & grilled chicken Salad (YUM!!!!!!!!!!)
snack: Nuts & cheese
Dinner: BBQ chicken breast, squash & cucumbers
lns: Cantaloupe
There's already been a lot of walking today but I'm going to try and squeeze in another walk after dinner. Decaaf tea is going down easily and there's plenty more tea and water in the fridge. Morning vitamins are in and now to reorganize the weekly pill container and the additional nighttime meds.
Yall have a great day.

I am on bio-identical hormones - viville dots (estrogen pastch) + progesterone pill or cream + testestorone topical gel. Works for me.

Hi botts:
I've never had to take iron or have infusions and my labs are above normal. 3 months post op they reran my blood work because the levels were too high (even for a non RNY person). I guess that is the good news. I also don't have a long enough bypass to give me any malabsorption. I was hoping to not absorb after the surgery so that I could lose weight easier. My surgeon has extended one of his patient's bypasses (according to her OH profile). I guess the calcium is absorbed in the duodenum, so I eat a lot of reduced fat and fat free cheese which is high in calcium and low in lactose (sugars). I haven't had labs drawn for a while because they are always high anyways. I am overdue for regular lab work. I just can't seem to get the motivation to go in to my family doctor. He is nice but I am very distrustful of doctors since my surgeon didn't do what I thought he was going to do. Then he blew me off for 2 years. I saw a psychologist about it and she said I have a reasonable reaction. My insurance won't pay for a revision. They probably would have in the beginning when my surgeon told me everything was fine (it wasn't) but they changed their rules. Anyways, I guess it comes down to eat less and move more. I feel I can do it by counting calories. Tri

I envy high iron. Really. My absorbtion for carbs is 100%+. Plus is for storing any extra carbs and too much insulin released from my pancreas. That prevents any fat burning and increase fast storing even from foods that are suppose to burn. It creatures insulin resistance. It suck. I "jocking" say that I only need to look and smell potatoes or bread to gain weight.
But in reality - it is not joke for me - Knowing that smell of food stimulated saliva asnf gastric juices and digestive enzymes release - it may be true that smelling donuts masy make us really hungry - and cause blood sugar drop = hunger...
Overt the years my body associate smell of food with taste and with digestive enzymes production.
That's why whern we have stuffed nose - food taste differently.
