I Need Some Support!

Hello everyone!  I had gastric bypass surgery in 2009 in  Huntsville, Alabama and lost 142 pounds.  Unfortunately I have gained back 50 pounds and am really stuggling.  I just started eating those carbs again and once you start them, you crave them and that is exactly what I have done.  I have been having lots of stomach issues lately and despite that, knowing the carbs are the main culprit, just have kept eating them.  I have gone back to the basics the last 3 days and have cut the carbs way back and upped the protein.  I know I need to cut the carbs out all together and am working toward that.  I am so ashamed of myself and the weight I have gained.  I am an overeater and surgery does not fix the brain and the compulsion.  I wish I could go back and feel like I did right after having the surgery when I did not care about eating and became full so easily. Unfortunately, that is not an option, can't go back.  I need the support of this group and will be getting back on track together with all of you!  Does anyone know of a support group near Huntsville, Alabama?

Hi and welcome.

we never can go back to the days after surgery. Actually I would  not want to: the pain, nausea, and being soooo tired..

But - when I cut the carbs - and I mean like really cut the carbs, even fruits - I don't get really that hungry - even now - 6 years post op.  O also found that with low carbs - I really still have great restrictions..and as long as I eat slowly - 1 cup of food is all I need to make me fill full..

Now - if I don't eat slowly - I can and want to eat more - but 30 min later - my belly gets so uncomfortably full.. especially on dense proteins...

Good luck.. we can do it...

You are right, those days after surgery were pretty rough, but the rapid weight loss was fun!  Thanks for the support!
