Hi Botts

I have been up since 3 am.  I have been bot for a week and lost a pound.  At 3 this morning the hunger woke me up.  That is typically how my food cycle goes. I had a 3 am snack and tried to sleep, but couldn't.  I see a nap in my future.

My food plan:

B: egg beater sandwich 200

L: tomato soup, 2 slices gyro meat, 1/2 order french fries 500

S: banana, veggie soup 130

D: pita, fat free cheese, turkey Italian sausage 400

S: turkey, rf cheese, whole wheat roll 280

1510

I used to have a problem waking up in a middle of the night hungry - or even worse - with severe low blood sugar.  Now I don't if I remember to eat right before I go to bed.  Best for me LNS are nuts, nut butter.. I try to avoid any strachy -carby food after 8 pm.  If I make that mistake and eat some fruits or even some starchy veggies too late - that may stimulate my insulin production and I will get low BS in a middle of the night. My best LNS - include fat+proteins + little bit of carbs.  Fat slows everything down and keeps my body working all night.

If I can make suggestion: for the last snack at the end of the day - replace the roll with equivalent calories in high fat food - like nuts, avocado, olives, etc. Or even normal (not rf) cheese.

We were planning to go hiking in mountains but I overslept. Plus it was drizzling and the weather was 50% chances of thunderstorms.  By the time we got ready and the skies cleared it was past noon.  So we decided to go hiking in nearby natural park area.  There is a lake there and over 10 miles total of short natural trails.  I lived here for close to 20 years and did not know the park is so close.  It was hot but not too bad on the tree shaded trails.  We walked at least 6 miles, and stopped in a middle for as short break and a snack.  Overall not a bad day.

Eats:

Coffee+coffee +...coffee

Skipped breakfast - I was not hungry

Ham and tomato in a crêpe, piece of red pepper

Protein shake

Chicken with veggies

LNS: nuts (Brazil nuts and macadamia)

Exerciuse : done

Water: over 64 oz and still drinking.

You are right about the protein and fat before bed.  The rolls I bought are 80 calories and very high fiber with a net carb of 5gm.  they are very filling.  Tonight I will skip the veggies because even though they are veggies, my salads end up with quite a few carbs.  I will eat them earlier in the day tomorrow.  Nuts are good but I have a portion control problem with them (except walnuts).  I do keep walnuts in the house.  Thanks and take care, Tri
