how do you figure out net carbs if it isn't on the package?

Total carbs minus the grams of fiber equals net carbs.

If the food contains sugar alcohols then it's total carbs minus grams of fiber minus 1/2 the sugar alcohol equals net carbs.

For sugar and insulin response - i can't ignore "fiber or SA"  - For my body - carbs = carbs.. 

The commercially available products want us to believe the they are safe to eat.. not so much..

thank you ladies...I have to toot my own horn here bc im really proud of myself bc ive sticked to breaking free of the carb/sugar monster..ive writing everything down  that I eat but im having trouble with getting in my fluids but ive always had this trouble

I need to flavor my water.  I drink coffee, tea - green, or herbal, or black.

I noticed that splenda and asparteme makes me crave carbs, but stevia and saccharine are still OK for me to use. One of my fav is juice from fresh lemon + few drops of pure liquid stevia. Hot or cold. My pouch likes warm drinks more than cold. I casn drink 8 oz of warm drink in 5 min but if it is cold - I need 20 min.  I also use diet Tonic - but I make sure is the one that uses saccharin.(dilute that 1 part tonic - 2 par****er) That also helps me with muscle cramps. 

 I crave carbs if I don't eat enough fat. I.e. when I feel like a snack attack & I want a candy or a cookie - I would eat some nuts (not a lot - dense calorie food), or 1/2 avocado with NSA pickle.  

Good luck.  Journaling my food and ermotions helped me find out what were my trigger foods, what affected me in long term.
