I hope things went well for you in the doc.
I have been detoxing and trying new diet - Higher fat, proteins and low carbs. It is going OK except my insides do not handle high fat very well. I get runs and runs and runs.. to a point of not being able to leave my house early...
On a good side - that means I am not constipated. Just the opposite. Also - diet like that makes me not hungry for hours.
O well.. it is cold here today. Nice and sunny, but cold.
Eats:
water with lemon
coffee
coffee
coffee + coconut milk + oil+ cocoa.. (not the best idea: except no straining)
Lunch: Godiva dark chocolate truffles - 3 pieces - brilliant - just brilliant...
tea and more tea... (need the liquids) - (need some sleep now - carb coma )
sausage with come cucumber (if i am hungry) or .. 1/2 avocado
burger and spinach.. (maybe)
exercise: running around to get stuff for the rental..

First and foremost the plan for today:
Commute: Coffee
Breakfast: 1/2 Panera Cinnamon Bagel with plain cream cheese
Lunch: Frozen entree
snack: Celery and peanut butter
Dinner: Shepherds Pie (minus the potato topping)
Now for the recount of the Doctor's appointment. Let me start by saying this was a referral from my primary doc for the constant knee pain. WHAT A COMPLETE WASTE OF MY TIME!!!
This guy walks in and first of all wants to know which name I felt like using today. (My insurance card is still in my former last name but I use my Married name on most everything else). His sarcasm was strike #1.
Foul Ball #1...."You're too young for knee replacement surgery so why are you at an Orthopedic surgeon's office" (referral!!!!!!) I will give him credit for ruling out surgery although it was before he'd even opened my chart or asked any questions.
Foul Ball #2....He didn't do his own xrays instead he chose to use the xray tech's report from January. I can appreciate not having to pay for additional x-rays but I clearly told him that the nature of the pain had changed in the past two weeks. "According to the xrays you shouldn't be experiencing the level of pain that you're reporting." Well thank you Captain Obvious. Needless to say my confidence level in him was approaching a ZERO.
Strike #3 ....Ended the entire ballgame........"Since you can't have an MRI beacuse of your heart problems and you can't take medicine like most people I'm going to send you to physical therapy (at which point he produces a list of 3 providers). Pick One." Silly me asks if all 3 accept my insurance. So then he whips out a prescription pad and tells me that when the Physical Therapy doesn't work to go have this filled for a knee injection (like a synthethic joint lubricant) and come back. The catch was insurance might cover the single injection dosage or they might cover the 3 - once weekly dosages so I needed to have that filled myself and bring it in. I'd either be picking up 2 syringes or 6 this way he said I could deal with insurance and the pharmacy of my choice.
Let me just say that even if I were a candidate for knee replacement surgery this is the last mofo on the face of the earth who would be allowed near my knees. OH OH OH....Assuming that there would actually be viewing, touching, examination of my knees, I opted to wear capris to my appointment. Silly me thought an examination would actually be part of this visit. He did apply pressure to my right one while I lifted my leg. But in general conversation about the effects of the weather on my joints he offered a gruff "If the cold bothers them then you may want to consider wearing something other than shorts to your doctor's appointments."
Obviously I was expecting a miracle today and didn't get it. Well maybe I did because as I sit at my desk and replay the events of the morning IT IS A MIRACLE I'M NOT IN JAIL. My first phone call was to my Moma, next was the Skinny Man and then my Primary Doc. I gave her an earful (in a nice way). I'm so thankful that she and I have a good rapport. She did think I would benefit from the PT while she talked to her colleagues about a better referral.
Hope I haven't bored you with the details but I really needed to VENT. Every single one of us on here have worked too hard for our health to have anything snarky come from the mouth of a provider. I'd have more respect for him if he had suggested I lose a few pounds to see if that would help.
If nothing else, I know I'm entertaining on this Wednesday afternoon.

I read this with my jaw dropped...what an a$$hole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Total disrespect from this "specialist" will get him no future business. I am so sorry....still shaking my head at the stupid jerk. I hope you didn't have to pay a co-pay for this visit, to say the very least. "If the cold bothers them you may want to consider wearing something other than shorts to your doctor's appointments." ARE YOU FLIPPIN' SERIOUS????? I would have expected a full "mechanical" hands on exam, with the pain that you have been experiencing, also. I would have worn something to make my knees easily accessable too.
Customer service at it's finest...NOT.
Sending you healing thoughts and prayers.
Gaby
I really feel bad for you but I was laughing really hard... I only could imagine the blood pressure building in you.. specially with the "If the cold bothers them then you may want to consider wearing something other than shorts to your doctor's appointments." I think the only reason you did not explode it was because you were in shock and still inhaling.... sorry.. but more of ...
Just because someone has MD degree it does not mean they are smart.. that guy is one that should wear a sign. Google his name and give yo your honest opinion - you can rate them..
I was laughing - because I can relate... I met a moron once.. and I was so shocked during the whole visit that was able to really react and realized what happened when I walked outside... I had one visit with my first endo - whom to this day I called "moron dickhead ass " and every time I think that I paid my $50 copay fee for him I turn red.. .
I remember talking to myself ( "just calm down, just calm down....") driving back to my office gripping the wheel as if I wanted to rip it out..
It took me weeks to really calm down...
On a good note- hope you really find someone who can help you... I wish you luck.. so sorry for the really bad one...

I don't know how old you are, but, I had my first total knee replacement when I was 43, That was 24 years ago. My surgeon tried to say I was too young too and made me go with the Don Joy brace first. That darn thing didn't fit under uniform pants,(I was a nurse) when I tried wearing it over the pants I got caught on bed rails and wheel chairs so he finally gave in. It took a while for him to understand, that QUALITY of life counts for something too. You definitely need to file a complaint for the way that "Dr." treated you, totally unprofessional, he needs to learn some "Patient Manners".
I hope you find a good Orthopedic Doctor/Surgeon.

Okay.....now....Good morning BOTTs.
It "sprizzled" here lastnight...not enough to do any good....the spot under the vehicles was still dry this morning.
Breakfast: yogurt
Lunch: veggie burger patty with lettuce and tomato
Snack: banana
Dinner: may be time for chili with veggie crumbles again
Snack: string cheese
Have a good day, friends.
H.a.l.a. I hope your stomach settles down...you have made some big changes in your diet. Fingers and toes crossed for you!!! Spending all that time in the little room with the throne gets old, fast!
Iris, I agree the doctor was a complete jerk, my head would have been turning on my neck like the exorcist. Is he the only doctor in the practice, if not I would write a letter of complaint to the practice detailing the his attitude-lack of treatment. Hope your day gets better.
