TGIF - 3/14 - Cardio & Cafe
It's Pi Day!! I'm such a geek. Any excuse to eat Pie is okay in my book. I was the kid that never wanted a birthday cake. I had to have birthday Pie or cheesecake. I think that tonight, I'll introduce my family to the wonders of yogurt pie. Simply combine a container (or 2) of your favorite yogurt with sugar free cool whip and put it in a pie shell (SF graham craker crust for this girl) or in really nice parfait glasses - but then it's not pie just really good dessert. I like to do either lemon, lime or pineapple and then freeze it before serving.
It's going to be a busy weekend around our house. Fingers crossed that the weather is really close to what's forecasted. I'd love to get some yard work done and get the grill fired up tomorrow. There is a car show that the hub wants to go to and Sunday is the St. Patricks Day parade. It's a tradition for him and the kids. I can't stand the crowds so I get to stay home and I swear it always rains and blows---must be part of the tradition.
I've got some extra stress happening on the home front....my youngest is starting a new job and my 89 year old Aunt may be going into a nursing home. Her situation kills me. She's so anti-social. Always has been. I've tried to keep her home as long as possible but I really think she needs the medical attention and more round the clock available care than she can get at home. She's legally blind (has been since I was a child) and she's not been taking care of herself as well as she should/could. Her limited vision has gotten worse. I worry now that she may fall and that would really not be good. Social services is involved and hopefully we can come up with an agreeable plan for everyone concerned.
Today's plan is looking like :
Commute: coffee
Breakfast: 1/2 everything bagel with cream cheese
Lunch: Frozen entree & small salad
snack: String Cheese & almonds
Dinner: Pork Chop & sweet potato
LNS: Yogurt Pie
Now that I've got some extra daylight. There's a walk planned when I get home. Just me and the dog. It gives e time to organize my thoughts and put some prayer into the things that are going on around me. I love that there are physical, mental & spiritual benefits from a simple walk.
Yall remember to get those vitamins and water in. And have a GREAT day!!!!

Iris, The "pie" recipe sounds yummy.......will have to try it when I get back from spring break ! Leaving this afternoon for 6 days of Grandbaby hugs and kisses.....I am in desparate need of a Grandbaby fix !! 😉
Putting a loved one into a home is one of life's most difficult choices. I had to put my legally blind ( lost her sight to macular degeneration) Mom into a home when she was 90. Although it pained me to see her in a home, she had always said to not let her be a burden..put her in a home, but just don't forget about her. She was in a local home ( not the best one, but it was local) and my sister and I visited her everyday. It was a good decision because I didn't have to worry about her and she ate so much better. She even made some new friends. So that is my advice to you.....make the choice that is best for her and continue to go see her regularly. Prayers being sent that you and she are comforted with the choices made.

Somnertimes we have tho make decisions for loved ones. They are not easy.
My last day in SF. We plan to have fun. Lots of it, and evening sunset catamaran cruise.., so cool. Then going home tomorrow. I will wear comfortable shoes and plan to just have fun today. Plan to do easy on the wine. 😎
Btw: since calcium really constipates me and my calcium andf bone density were perfect - I decided not to take calcium while on this trip. One week will not dasmasge my bones, but not having potty issue makes the trip so much more easy for me.
I took enough multi to make sure I get 3 per day (Typically 2 a day) so in that area - I am fine. Extra vitamins and water helps with next day fast recovery after evening with good wine... Not that I recommend that to any one... 😋🍷

Red wine really works lowering cholesterol. But if you not a fun of the taste - make SF spritzer - sangria like.
Use 4 oz of good red wine + 4oz SF sprite + few slices of orange and lemon. Add ice.... Nice ..
Wine helps me with belly cramps. .
