Back On Track Together
I just tried to ward off a chocolate craving...
...with a tiny corner of a little square of Lindt Excellence 85% cocoa EXTRA DARK bar.
YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Suffice it to say, however, my chocolate craving is loooooong goooooone. I even chewed up an extra Centrum Silver multi-vit to get the lingering bitter taste out of my mouth. On the plus side, I did chug a bottle and a half of water in trying, first.
Whoda thunkit?
Gaby: My son n law only eats 90% or higher extra dark chocolate. I can not stand the bitterness of it. I can do 60% or 70% but no higher. My chocolate has to have a little butter/sugar in it. My secret for feeding the chocolate beast at night is my vitatop but I also have a chocolate calcet chew when I go to bed. It is delicious. Only 30 calories and 600 mg of calcium too! They are expensive though. 30 chews are $12.99 at Diet Direct but I love them and the Lemon Cremes too!
Tess...how much is the shipping at Diet Direct? I have the lemon creme calcets and they are delicious, and I ordered the chocolate ones last night from Drugstore.com because they had them on sale for 10.99 and I had a 90 cent discount, but S&H was 5.99 standard, so I still ended up paying 16.08. I was thinking I could've gotten them for less at Diet Direct.
I wish I had known about the calcet calcium citrate because after my thyroid surgery, I had to be on high doses of calcium to prevent complications, and the Citracal was so hard to swallow. My surgeon had written a Rx for chewable calcium citrate, but none of the pharmacies carried it...they only had chewable carbonate. Live and learn...
I have to be super careful with the Deep Chocolate Vitatops....last night I had one.....and a little bit later....I had the other one. After all there was only 2 left...and I didn't want it to be lonely.
Delicious...but not so good on the carb control on my part. I love them frozen...it's almost like enjoying an ice cream sandwich to me. MMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....I'm a little sad yet relieved that they are all gone. I can get addicted and out of control too easily. The calcet in chocolate sound really good. I may have to check that out. :)\
ps
Your son n law is a special kind of person.....90% or higher??? Heck....I just got the chills thinking about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh Gaby, I ready this last night and laughed and laughed and laughed. Never in a million years would I ever imagine anyone trying to rid themselves of the taste of chocolate...especially with a chewable vitamin. That made for a great mental image. High praise for getting in the extra water though.

Iris....it's one of those things where you can only look back at it and laugh after a little time passes. It was a short time because I was telling my mom about it last night and I thought she was going to pee her pants as I was describing it to her because she knows how much I love chocolate.
Your reply is making me laugh all over again. This morning, I opened up my cupboard, over my desk, to get a bottle of water and I saw IT! My eyes bugged and I shut that door fast!
I love the 85% chocolate... I allow that to melt in my mouth.. really nice... lol.. sorry you do not like it.
If you have the 85% - to save it - melt that with 1 tbs of butter, add some stevia or splenda and use as a dipping chocolate for fruits,,,,
