how do i start over???

hi,

how do i start over...

i had my gastric bypass on august 28,2003... i did make my 150 mark goal and then beat it to 143 pounds now today i am 183 pounds. i dont like this weight and i am not sure how to eat anymore. i need help.anita

I started over by going back to basics.  Google "pouch rules for dummies", that was a great reminder of how we are supposed to eat.  I have had to make a big effort to cut carbs, eat my protein, drink and not drink water at the right times and recommit to the lifestyle I signed up for.  You can do it!  I got back on track the first of the year and I feel really good, hopeful and proud of myself. Take a look at what others are eating, for me it was a real eye opener, I was eating too much.  Remember eat to satisfaction, not fullness.

thank you. i will google pouch rules for dummies.yes and i want to do it and lose this weight i gained. i know i am eating lots of carbs and baked goods.. i know its bad. anita

Hi Anita,
You can do it! I am working on trying to lose again myself. And the best thing so far is I do feel better in a whole, and I am really trying to get into exercise, since I so hated it before, but now I know it's a main key to helping me lose this regain, and I want this bad! Hang in there, your on the right track desiring to lose again.
I was scared of the scale, but no more! My goal is to lose and maintain.
It's so easy to get comfortable and lose our way, but now you're back! congratulations on wanting to make a change again.

hi ladybug,

i thought about just doing protein shakes for awhile. i need to lose this weight. i have an ellipical in my house but right now i dont even feel like doing it. i know i should.anita

Hi Anita:  Your body is in a carb coma and you need to detox it out.  You don't feel like doing anything because of it.  If you can go through 3 days of high protein, no carbs you will start to feel better but you will feel worst the first couple of days because your body will fight you over the lost of the carb high.  Once you get the carbs out of your system then you can go back to basics of high protein, low carbs, no white foods just green veggies with your protein, plenty of fluids, and take your vitamins if you are not.  Journal your food everyday so you will take responsibility for it.  If you do not write it down then you will turn a blind eye to what you are really consuming.  When you start to feel better about your self then the exercise bug will start to catch on again, start walking 20 minutes, then 30, until you reach a hour, it will really make a difference to you.  Remember, you want this for you.  You can do this!!

hi tess,

i didnt know i was in a carb coma. i need to stop. but when, its so hard to stop. maybe i should do a certain date. i do need to start taking my vitamins. i was taking my prenatal vitamin, thats all i have, i had 2 miscarriages, one in april and then in sept. i used to write down everything. thank you for your help. anita
