Nut Butter - recommendations

I was looking at the variety of Nut butters that are out there. I've always been a Peanut Butter lover but I'm open to change. I saw a few different kinds in the local Wal-Mart supercenter but the prices were astronomical. A quick glance between the ones they had available and a low sugar peanut butter that I love really didn't show any significant nutritional advantages. What are your thoughts and recommendations?

I am interested too...I went to a "health food" store yesterday called Sprouts and was looking at the nut butters...there were so many choices I got overwhelmed and just decided I'd use up what I have at home before I venture out into the unknown.

I like the most natural, NSA,- preferable organic PB or Almond butter.  Most others are mixes and a lot of time rather $$$.

I buy mine in Whole Foods, Costco, or Trader Joe.  Because my BP is low - I try to get the one with sea salt.

I also grind my own - I use vitamix. Ninja can do - but that one I get mostly  "crunchy". When using my own - I add just a little bit of oil - typically pure organic Almond oil.   Sometimes I add other nuts when I grind my own - like roasted sunflower or walnuts.

I am just your basic old Jiff Creamy Peanut Butter, sugar and all.  I don't eat much but when I do, this is what I want.

I wish I could help Iris, but I am allergic to nuts, so don't know much on this subject.

Our neighbor's youngest son has a severe nut allergy. I love the parents' approach to it...they've educated all of us to it. All the kids in the neighborhood can tell you where the epi pens are located. The older ones and the adults have all used the trainer epi pen so we could administer a dosage if necessary. We even had the homeowners association purchase reflective house number signs so EMTs could find any home in the neighborhood quickly and efficiently. All the kids know the importance of washing their hands and faces before coming into contact with him. I'm so sorry that he has to live with such horrible consequences looming on the horizon but I'm also very appreciative of the parents not keeping him inside a bubble and giving him every opportunity to be an active 7 year old.

Are you allergic to all nuts? Is it possible to outgrow a nut allergy?

Iris, my allergies to nuts did not start until I was an adult.  First it was almonds and now all nuts.  Imagine this I grew with Pecan trees on our property.   I have learned to read labels, and question any foods that anyone else makes.  For example a family member brought cookies to work one day and I asked if there was any nuts in and she told me no.  After the first bite by mouth started itching and tongue started to swell followed by wheezing. Lucky I am a nurse and a doctor was in the building and I was given Epi and Bendaryl.  When I questioned her about what exactly she had put in the cookies she had use almond paste.   Not only have I developed and allergy to nuts, but also she'll fish.   Even though these were some of my favorite foods I don't miss it.  The last time I had shrimp I had a feeling of in pending doom.  So I have moved on and adjusted.  Its hard because the nuts are a nice protein snack.  I use to look peanut butter and strawberry jam on WW bread, it was my favorite lunch.
