Back On Track Together
Thursday, January 16th, Cardio & Cafe
I use NSA natural PB or Almond butter or the nuts itself. Best thing to keep my BS stable overnight.
I eat 1-2 tsp of nut butter, or up to 1oz of nuts.. either just before bed - or even in bed.. ****ep a small jarof PB by my bed in case of low BS in a middle of the night)

I am finally see a difference in how I feel. I hope the worst is over and now I can just start recovering. Still have some cough, and sinus drainage, but that feels more like my body is trying to dump the rest of mucus.
I ate lots of slider foods (and carbs) during the last 2 weeks, so my weight was up 10 lbs, but 3 of them are already gone (last 2 days) . So I have 7 more to go plus my 10 original I wanted to lose.. so that's 17 lbs total... I do hope that I still have at least 4-5 lbs of water weight... and that would come off in next week or so..
I ate some food yesterday but not a lot. By the evening I was really hungry and really wanted a burger... Got one all juicy, (no bun) and with some pickles and tomato slices... I was able to eat most of it - I found new pouch restriction - 2 weeks of slider foods and dry heaving - and now 1/2-3/4 cup of food makes me feel really full. That is great. I also walked at least 20 min.. and only had to stop once to catch a breath... (and cough - cold weather...)
I got home and have a 1 cup blueberries, and then 1 oz of peanuts just before bed... (keeps my BS stable)
Today eats:
coffee x2
tea + vitamins
2 oz peanuts
meat with some pickles.. and cucumbers
soup with extra meat and 1 TBS flax meal
meatloaf and veggies... (I may try to make a sauted spinach, and maybe roast some of my peppers... )
Dessert: blackberries
LNS: peanuts... + evening vitamins and minerals

Well... To gain weight we need insulin and too many calories - carbs. If I eat low carbs diet - my body do not produce insulin. So instead of storing the calories - my body makes me burn the - one by raising my body temperature (I am almost always hot - burning up) , building up muscles, and keeping me "full" for hours. (Stable blood sugar). I can eat 1 oz of nuts and feel full., or eat 7/8 off humburger and feel "stuffed" for 3+ hours,
Also - i feel like my body still malabsorb some fat, and depends how my food is prepped - not all calories are the same. I.e. smooth nut butter will be much easier to digest and accumulate as calories. Than eating nuts. Als, steak needs more effor to chew than a ground beef.

I am so glad you feel like you are getting into the recovery mode after being so sick! After feeling so crappy for so long, your poor body probably doesn't know what it's doing right now. Hoping that it's water weight and you can flush (literally!) the majority of it away asap! The berries and nuts sound great for balancing your BS.
I don't eat enough nuts. Does it matter of they are raw or roasted? In the past I have bought raw almonds but I think I actually prefer the unsalted roasted ones. The SF peanut butter sounds good...I don't think I've seen it in the regular grocery store. I may have to venture out of my normal path and stop at a "healthier" store. I tried almond butter before, but I wasn't a fan at all. It's been several years so maybe I should give it another try. I need to have some healthier protein choices on hand.
Keep feeling better!
Some nuts need to be roasted. (I.e peanuts, cashews). Raw may be good, but the natural enzymes in nuts (they are really seeds) prevent us fro digesting the proteins! ( that's why birds can spread seeds all over the country! . I do believe that eating nuts provides less calories than nut butter.
It is really the texture + real digestive juices that allows us to digest and assimilate the food.

I am so happy I found this group, it made me realize that weight gain happens and you CAN take it off again. I felt like I just couldn't do it and I was such a failure. After getting my head back in the game and tracking my food since the first of the year, I have lost 5 pounds. It's been a long time since I have lost weight 2 weeks in a row. I feel good too! Not hungry or miserable! Cutting down on my carbs and making sure I get 80+ grams of protein has made a big difference.
Breakfast-I wasn't really hungry-Coffee, homemade chia pudding and a fresh mozzarella ball.
Lunch-Falafel with Tzatziki on a low carb wrap
Snack-ENS Vanilla cake batter shake with almond milk
Dinner-roasted turkey breast and green beans
I will probably eat some popcorn with my kids tonight when we watch Beauty and the Beast.
I took my AM vitamins already, I will take my PM ones later, lots of water and probably no exercise tonight because I am a little sore from my Yoga class.
