Teresa, Welcome to the group.  try to read some older posts. a lot of great information. wonderful people.

When i need to get back on track (like now) i make sure I decarb first (eat low carb for a few days), drink a lot of liquids in between meals (warm green tea works best for me), and make sure i don't skip meals. typically after 3-5 days my cravings for "not so good food" and sweets goes away and makes eating clean much easier.

Some people try the 5-day pouch test, but dense protein at every meal worked better for me.

the board may be slow now due to holidays, but after the 1st I expect we get very busy again.

Welcome aboard and congratulations on a brand new baby....that's awesome. The board will be slow for just a few more days and then we'll be on fire. Read through some older posts and you'll get to know us a little better and chances are you'll find someone in a similar regain situation that you'll identify with. We're all here to help.

Looking forward to getting to know you better in the New Year.

Hi Teresa,

I recently joined this board as well. I am 4 years out and need to drop 15-20 pounds to get back to the weight I was most comfortable.  I am trying to get through the holidays and plan to really be focused as soon as all of the temptation is gone out of the house/parties/etc.  My husband is carrying around about 20 pounds too that he wants to lose so that really will help me!  :)

Welcome to this group...while I am new, I have found a lot of good information and support here.

Hi Teresa:

Welcome aboard.  I posted on your protein question before I saw this one.  Congratulations on the beautiful baby girl and congratulations on deciding to get back on track.  2014 is going to be awesome year for us all.  Look forward to seeing you post.  Tips for getting started is to decarb yourself off of white products.  That includes:  sugar, bread, pasta anything that is not protein or veggies for right now.  Once the sugar cravings are under control then you can move forward.  I keep my calories for losing weight at about 800 a day.  Proteins:  80-100 grams per day and carbs or net 50 or below.  Find some type of activity that you like to do for exercise and do it for 30 minutes a day.  Journal your food daily and drink plenty of fluids and don't forget to take all your vitamins and calcium, these are so important to your overall well being.  Let us know if you have any questions or just need more information and we will gladly help you out.  Have a great day and good to have you here.
