Back On Track Together
Did you ever make it to goal?
I guess I am just full of questions this morning but did you ever make it to your goal weight and if so, did you go below it? How long did you stay at goal before you started to regain and how long did it take you to regain your current weight versus how long did it take to lose originally and now? What do you want to accomplish in 2014. Lots of questions but here is my reply.
I never reached my goal of 145 lbs. I am still trying but it always seems out of reach.
I started out at 306 and lost down to 151 my lowest (I saw 149 for about 1/2 a second and that was it).
It took me 15 months to lose it.
I bounced back up to 155-157 on any given day.
During my regain, it took me almost 13 months to gain back up to 225. A gain of 70 lbs.
During my losing time again, it took me 8 months to lose the 70 lbs and get back to 155.
I am currently holding between 157-160 right now.
After the holidays, I am going to really try to make my goal of 145. This is my New Year's Resolution for 2014.
I think these have been great questions! They make you think and be more accountable.
I started out around 255 and reached my goal of 145 within a 18 months. I lost fast and a lot.
When I got pregnant 2 years out I got so sick that I dropped down to 130. I only gained 30lbs and it didn't take me long to get back to 145.
I didn't regain until we moved to california and hit some really hard times. I really don't know how long it took me to gain the 40 lbs but it felt like overnight!
I have lost 12 of it but keep bouncing around and can't get beyond 175... Time to change it up! We want another baby and I know I am in no shape to have a healthy pregnancy. This is my New Years Resolution! To become happy and healthy and maybe grow our family!
That sounds like an awesome New Years Resolution. My body would start and stop as I lost 10-15 lbs at a time. I could lose 15 lbs. one month and the next month nothing. The third month I would drop another 10 lbs. and so on and so forth. It will come off again. I just use the time that I didn't lose to practice maintaining.
I never reached my goal weight of 150 lbs. I will consider that quest after I reach my next goal of 160 lbs.
I started in Apr 2000 at 344 lbs, and got to my lowest weight of 167 lbs by the end of June 2001 so almost 15 months. Lasted a hot NY minute.
Over the next 7 years I yo-yo dieted on and off, reaching 190 lbs by 2007, which became 210 by 2008.
I reached my max regain of 71 lbs in February of this year :( so it actually took 12 years to put on the entire 71 lb regain (due to dieting on and off)
I'm now at my 1st goal of 167 lbs, working daily towards my original post-op goal of 160 lbs.
All of this excess skin accounts for some of my weight, so if I don't look too thin at 160, I may go for 150 (maybe 145 for a 5 lb cushion)
Great question, Tess.
The day of surgery I was 309.5#, prior to surgery my doctor had me of diet pills I was required to lose 15 pounds prior to surgery so my overall weight was more than 324.5#
My goal weight was 188# (set by my doctor) and I surpassed that by dropping to 155# in less than 15 months which concerned my doctors however, by the end of the 2nd year I gained back 19# and reached 174#
I stayed at 174# for 9 years and over the past 4 years I have been regaining due to stress (being unemployed for all of 2009 and part of 2010) and the 4 surgeries kept me inactive for months during recovery.
I've currently regained over 58.2#, I had my surgery 13 years ago this past July and I am at my heaviest of 232.2# as of Sunday evening 12/08/2013
I am going to give myself 11/12 months from today to get back to my goal of 174# which I was happiest.
Now that my master classes are over and I have all of this free time on my hands I am now working on me. I am back to tracking my food, calories & protein and will make it a point to work out 5/6 times a week while I am job hunting.
And take it one day at a time.
I think by concentrating on yourself you will find that you will feel better and more energize to go job hunting. We always put our health and general well being on the back burner while concentrating on other aspects of our lives. I think we are all guilty of this. Good luck to you on your journey back.
I think I had the only surgeon in the world who didn't set a goal weight for me. I told myself that my only goal was to be healthier and to get rid of the diabetes. I can say that the last high sugar reading I had was while in the hospital in 2008 for the gastric bypass. So by that standard I'm at goal.
Scale wise....now there is a whole nother story. I really wanted to make Onderland. I got to 208 a year after surgery. In the past 4 years, I've managed to regain 50 lbs. There's been a trememndous amount of stress in my life in that period. I am a stress eater.
I'd like to see Onderland. I'd like to see it in 2014. My realistic goal is to be comfortably maintaining in Onderland when my 50th brithday roles around in a few years. It's going to take work and determination. I still have a dieters mentality, that's got to be the first item on the detox list. This is my life---not a phase or temporary setback.
hmmmm.........
thanks Tess, I didn't have anything to obsess over. lol
