What are your Trigger Foods?
My trigger is chocolate in the form of candy. I've gone cold turkey many times and it is always painful. It takes three full days but then I'm OK. I think about it but I can get along OK without it. But ONE piece and it's all over. If there is a bag in the house I will graze on it until it's gone. If I lose my mind and make fudge OMG it is pitiful. I make the best fudge on the planet. I only make it 4 times a year now. And when I make it I make it the morning of not the night before. Hopefully the plate is empty when everyone goes home at the end of the day.
Popcorn. Oh brother! I use an air poper so that's something at least. I use the excuse that it keeps me from eating other worse things.
My really huge issue is evening grazing. It doesn't matter on what. If I could 1) get enough protein each day and 2) quit grazing I would be OK. Sounds so simple.
My trigger foods are milk chocolate, Toll house cookies, Cheez-Its (they're the devil!), and strangely enough...fruit, especially Honey Crisp apples.
I generally try to avoid them completely, however, I try to BS myself into thinking that "it's just fruit, it's healthy!" Well....we all know that too much of anything with a high glycemic index is NOT a good thing nor are all the carbs. If I'm not careful, I can gain weight just from eating fruit daily.
Celery has a good crunch if that's what I am looking for in the apples...it's just that I am very careful to only add a tiny touch of peanut butter. My chocolate addiction is generally satisfied with protein shakes and protein bars.
Did somebody mention fudge? I love fudge and it loves me so much it stays on my body...I may as well sit on a whole plate of fudge because that's exactly where it ends up anyway!! To prevent a full on fudge-fest from total deprivation, I will allow myself one glorious piece on Christmas day...and I will savor it. My mouth is already watering.
Ok....after all of this, I think it's time for me to glug a bottle of water.
