Fell off the track-making my way back

Well, I was down from 203 to 191. I got back on track starting the end of Oct. after gaining about 70 from my 2005 RNY. Read all the great advice here and got back on track and in 4 weeks was down 12 pounds. Then I got bronchitis. I know, it is no excuse at all. I went back to drinking Dr.Pepper (about 2 liters/day habit). My throat was so sore, I could not breathe and I craved that cold Dr. Pepper( and I cannot drink sugar-free. All sugar-free products give me migraine with aura). So I step on the scale and I am at 200. I am so angry at myself! I am still sick and today I am going to have to say good bye to my soda, I cannot keep this ridiculous binge going. Why is it so difficult for me to stop the Dr. Pepper, I mean it is an addiction to be sure. I am eating my protein, but I am pouring carbs, calories, right into myself with the Dr.Pepper. I am stopping this addiction now. No more! I am consuming at least 1600 calories in Dr.Pepper alone each day! I am moving my ticker back to 200 because that is what I have done to myself!!

When we don't feel good or have a bad day we tend to turn to old comforts to get us through the hump.  The only thing is the old comfort comes with baggage of its own.  I love my diet pepsi and have given it up twice but I keep going back because it is the one thing in my diet that has remained an old friend.  If it were regular pepsi then I would have the issue of added calories like you have with the Dr. Pepper.  If soda is what you crave I would suggest a different flavor that is caffeine free.  My husband has the issues with the sugar free products and he can only drink diet 7 up or diet orange crush, both are caffeine free and do not give him migraines.  This was a learning bump and remember I told you this was like a dance.  Two steps forward, one step back and sometimes we have to turn completely around again.  Tomorrow is a brand new day and brand new start.  You are 1 pound from onederland again, remember how exciting that was the first time you hit it after WLS?  Have a great weekend!

Thank you, I am taking it with a grain of salt and renewing my commitment. With me, I have an "all or nothing" mentality. Sometimes it is a blessing because I can really focus and accomplish things with detail, on other things it causes imbalance because I laser in on things and balance is rarely an occurrence in my world. So I have to completely stop sodas, and only take water. Thank you for your wisdom that you give, it gives me motivation to carry on with remaining on track

I hear you. with some foods or drinks - I can't just have a little.  It is a lot or nothing.  Some other things - I can have as bite or sip and leave the rest. Diet Pepsi Max is my krypton. So I don't have that in the house.
