Holy Pie, Batman !!
I am celebrating this day with my son and family in Fort Worth and his neighbor owns a small sandwich shop and bakery. Last night, they knocked on the door and blessed us with 6 homemade pies that people ordered and didn't pick up!! They knew we were having lots of people (25 at least) today and they would just have to throw them away. They had 48 pies that were not picked up !!! Along with the pies and desserts we already have coming.....HOLY PIES !! God, give me lots of will power today as pies are my favorite dessert and these pies are beautiful and my family says they are really good !! I am chanting my mantra......Protein Forward, protein forward, protein forward !!! 😳
What a dilemma you have on your hands. I can't believe so many people would order, then just abandon that many desserts, but such is life. So sad for the people that had to make them, then couldn't sell them. What a loss of money. Hopefully, they were able to give a few to food banks or church kitchens to help feed the needy. As for yourself, your mantra is great and I hope this worked for you. I'm not usually tempted by sweets, but I did succumb to a "very tiny sliver" of pecan pie (2 tiny bites) and that was enough for me. Considering I had to choose between sweet potato pie, pound cake, rum cake, bread pudding, rice pudding, cheesecake (not a favorite**** cream and apple pie, I think I did very well with the sliver of pecan pie. Done and DONE! Hope you had a great time with family/friends :)
Thanks, Tess! That was taken this past August, and the kiddos are my niece (15 mos) and nephew (4 mos). I've tried to post pics before, but they get rejected somehow for being too large even after being cropped. I'm no computer whiz though, so this one shows up, but I noticed that when you mouse over it, it doesn't get larger like most I've seen. Any ideas? Anyone?
