Good Morning Botters:
I know we have folks traveling to their destinations today to celebrate the Thanksgiving Holidays. My prayer for you all is to have a safe and joyous Thanksgiving, and to not regret what you eat but rather enjoy the meal and the gathering. Thanksgiving comes but once a year and I am thankful for all that has been bestowed upon me. I am thankful for my family, for my health and health of those around me, for my friends, those I see daily and those that I feel I know through the internet and I am grateful for all that our soldiers do to make our lives safe and to protect what we all call home. I wish they could all be home for the holidays with their love ones too. During this season of giving and getting, please remember the food banks, angel trees and the shut ins, what we take for granted is more valuable for those who do not have any. If you get a chance, go by the local nursing home with some little bottles of hand lotion and/or socks. It is not about the getting for them, it just about the visit from you.
I not going to post my eats today, they are the same as usual but I will post my menu for tomorrow.
Baked Turkey
Dressing with Giblet Gravy
Sweet Potato Casserole
Hash Brown Casserole
BBQ Green Beans with Almond slivers & Bacon
"Fried" Sweet Corn
Rotel Mac & Cheese
Cranberry Sauce
Rolls
Banana Pudding
Doesn't this sound weight friendly?
Have a Happy, Happy Thanksgiving, remember those vits and fluids and I will be back on board come Monday Morning, December 2nd!
Tell me more about the BBQ Green beans.
Food Banks and Nursing Homes are great ideas. I know my family has an over-abundance of things and reasons to be thankful. We all feel that it is a sense of purpose/duty and privilege to give back to those around us and in our community. Remembering that our God given gifts and talents are only on loan to us a shortwhile during our lifetimes. We have to make the most of them.
I know several families who have recently lost loved ones and will be having this holiday season with a sense of loss and bewilderment. My heart breaks for them. It's difficult enough to face a holiday given months of preparation but alone...well, it's beyond difficult. My thoughts and prayers of peace and comfort go out to them.
I'm looking forward to a few days at my son's home. He's managed to get Friday off from work so that's when we'll be frying our bird and celebrating another season of Thankfulness. Since this is also about letting him establish his own traditions, I've bought him a large white tablecloth to let everyone sign from year to year. Then during the year I'll hand stitch those signatures. He has my sense of family and tradition.
Prayers to those of our group who are traveling. Have the very Happiest of Thanksgivings.

Iris, that is a great idea for the tablecloth....never heard of that before. I don't sew, but my mom is a seamstress with lots of free time on her hands in her retirement, and always looking for more projects to stay busy. I'll have to tell her about this one. Wishing you safe traveling to and from your destination, and Happy Thanksgiving!
Iris that is a wonderful idea. I love it. My BBQ green beans are so easy. You can use fresh, frozen or can green beans. I use two cans of cut green beans, 1/2 cup BBQ sauce mixed together and heated on medium. Two pats of butter with 1/4 onion sauteed in it, add about 1/4 cup real bacon and about 1/8 cup of sliced almonds to the onions, toss them around then add them to the BBQ beans, toss and served. Yummy! Have a great Thanksgiving!
Good morning BOTTs.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Take good care of your loved ones and be safe, wherever you go or stay. We are celebrating tonight and I am so excited I can hardly sit still in my office!!! Last night, I prepared everything so that this evening will be a breeze and I can sit in the living room with my family, fireplace ablazing! I had an audience of what looked like three furry Christmas Carolers sitting quietly paying attention to every move I made and every step I took in the kitchen. My daughter had dressed our dogs (two Chihuahuas and one cattle dog) in festive sweaters. It was a sight.
Today's eats:
Breakfast: greek yogurt
Lunch: Protein shake
Dinner: turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, yams, cranberries, and the apples off of a slice of apple pie.
I will not over do it because I want to feel good and just be grateful for every precious second with my family.
Enjoy your blessings and always be thankful.
I am blessed to "know" you, my friends.
Gaby
LOL! Love the pups, Gaby. Reminds me of my dear departed ****er spaniel, Sandy. She was our baby, and she would stay put on the dining room floor watching us cook our holiday meals. If we happened to drop a morsel of anything... lookout!... she would scoop it up so fast that your head would spin!
I'm with you on the eating. I'm not going to overdo it either, and have my plan all mapped out. The sweets don't tempt me at all, so no worries there. I'm a savory foods person, so the stuffing will be the one I need to keep an eye on. I plan on ONE small serving, plus meat and vegs. Have a great Thanksgiving, and glad you'll all be together.
Thanks Gaby...sooo cute! I want another dog so badly, but my finances won't support one at this time. But when I can, I'm going to get 2 from the pound. I miss my baby, Sandy. I have her ashes sitting on my mantle in the family room, along with her photo album, tags, and locks of her hair with pink ribbons :)
Oh Sheila that is so sweet!!! Believe it or not...I have the ashes of my beautiful white Arabian horse. I had "Fancy" for 31 years. They don't fit on the mantle so they are on the floor by the front door. It looks like one of those big popcorn tins! It's such a personal thing. :::Hugs:::
We adopted all three of our dogs (Maya, Zeus, and Chanel) from rescues and the pound. Each one is worth their weight in gold, however one of the Chihuahua's is worth a little too much gold currently. Weight loss surgery for dogs? I'm kidding of course. He is on "meal modification" and an exercise regime, however.
Your sweet Sandy is forever in your heart!!
(:
Gaby, we are sisters in spirit! I cannot imagine losing a beloved 4 footed family member after such a long time. I had Sandy almost 13 years (she passed away 2 weeks before her 13th birthday, and I was heartbroken. She can't ever be replaced in my heart, but I have so much love to give to another "furry family member" and I will, someday. LOL, about your little "chunky one"...Sandy was overweight too, so I understand, and can definitely identify with that :) I'm vowing to try not to give in to excess again :)
